I don't want him back but how anyone can bad mouth him amazes me. The guy did everything he could to help the Jets win. He played hurt, played with intensity, and worked his ass off every week to be as prepared as possible for every game. He was a class act and gave us some great moments including two playoff victories (something we haven't had enough of) and a division title. Was 02 a mirage or were his injuries something he couldn't overcome? I don't know but it's clear to me the Jets would be doing the right thing if they move on. I'll always remember Chad a s a great Jet and like most things with the Jets he just didn't work out.

Chad wasn't the same in 2002, he was better. That was his best season.

Not really.. His INTENSITY and LEADERSHIP are what turned us from 1-4 to Division Winners and a 41-0 blowout of the Colts on Wild Card weekend... Not his arm..

His INTENSITY is what inspired this team to play well even when his arm was it's most noodle-like (when he played hurt in '04)... He came back with no arm whatsoever and won us a playoff game and had us one of two missed kicks away from the AFC CHampionship game... His INTENSITY is why he won games with us and why the team believed in him. His INTENSITY is what made this team serious contenders in the two seasons in which he played the majority of the games (02 and 04).. He never had a good arm, yet he still managed to be a winner..

He sure waved that towel very intensely. Just kidding. It's a shame Chad is so fragile. When he was healthy he was a winner.

2002 was great and will be and has been missed. But chad will never return to what he once was.

I can't unsterstand how anyone can bad mouth Chad. He brought hope back to the team. He was one of the first ones I can remember that actually said he wanted to be a Jet. He may not have the best arm, but he is smart and knows the game. It's not his fault he got hurt and the Jets OL sucks. He played with more heart by playing hurt and almost getting the team to the AFC Championship then any Jet in a very long time. So instead of acting like he's dead why not hope they work out the contract problems and he comes back healthy next year. If we draft Cutler Chad would be a great teacher.
And if he moves on I'll be sad, but hope he makes it back and wish him the best.

Yanno what? I'm gonna miss those Play action fakes, those 10 yard passes and the enthusiasm/leadership he brought to the team. I will NOT miss: The 20-40yd ducks, the dump offs, the lack of pocket presence, the lack of mobility, the lack of arm strength (hence, no downfield threat) and the arrogance towards the fans and the media.

Sorry boyz, but St. Pennington isn't all that. He WAS the golden boy, Now? He's just another vet on the bubble.

I would imagine since this franchise hasn't won a damn thing in almost 40 years, the bar has been set pretty low...

Everyone remember what a miserable prick he turned into when the media (after a losing stretch) called him for what he was, a one-hit wonder (98)?

I noticed that after his first injury, he didn't have that same fire when he came back to the huddle. He looked more upset at times, when normally he would have had that optimistic, were gonna win rah rah attitude. Now all he does is wave a towel around. I say we cut ties, he doesn't have the same arm, or attitude. And now that he has to take a pay cut, I don't see it getting any better. And the arm never will be.....

I'm one that hopes Chad is still on the team this year and beyond. We all could see that he was nowhere near ready to play last year.....most of us believe he was rushed back.....was it his choice?.......most guys like him just wanna play, and are willing to take the chance.....it didnt work out. I really doubt he'll be 100% come training camp either (if he's here or not). I hope both sides reach an agreement somewhere in the middle, because when Chad is healthy i think he'll return with success. Hopefully we'll keep this coaching staff together for the long run, and finally have some stability........something Chad has not had alot of. The offense has not been anywhere near solid whenever he was healthy. Money aside.....this guy has laid it on the line for his team OUR TEAM....and i cant see bashing him the way some are.......He is nowhere near a Namath, not even close.......but i remember all the times Joe got hurt.....i never once bashed him, or felt it was his fault. Sooooooo....i'm behind Chad because i believe in him, he's one gritty SOB.
