Except..,,,, He wasnt..And... He has two years left onhis contract..But.... He is going to be extended this year Or.... Idzik will be gone.
C'mon Hobbes, even YOU can't believe that Idzik will be one and done. Time to get off the crazy train man. You've left reality far behind.
Greg Roman, the 49ers offensive coordinator, would be a great candidate. Here's a great article explaining why. We've tried going defense first. Now it's time for a different approach!
Remember the media saying keeping Rex would be a turnoff to the new GM It seems like Woody made a good call looking at all the new hires Now the GM can evaluate Rex and other guys for 4 months and then go in the best direction for the franchise
hell no! he'd be the first guy i'd get rid of. rather take my chances of re-signing revis , and use cap room to move el taco for draft picks.
that would mean this is a discussion board, with anyone being able to post their opinion and ideas, and others are able to agree or disagree, and state why.hmy:
Defense first is a good approach. Unfortunately, the Jets have had bullshit for OC's the past years with Shottenheimer, and Sparano. I think under Morningweg, the Jets offense will do better than expected. Regardless though, the defense needs to be consistently good every year for the team to be perennially competitive, so I don't see why you want to try a different approach.
The media will try to kill off anything decent that we have. Rex Ryan alone made the Jets relevant again and I can say even better than Bill Parcells did.
There's aren't many candidates to choose from to be an HC that will be Rex's equal on either side of the ball. If you are picking up an Offensive HC can he elevate the Jets O to be a top 10 offense in the league? Because you know the defensive rankings will drop like rock. If you pick up another defensive minded coach, will he be able to maintain the level of defensive consistency that Rex has? Probably not. While there are a lot of good Defensive coaches out there, none that I have seen in recent memory are willing to modify their systems in order to get the most out their players. When Mangina was here, he shipped off Vilma (only one example) because "he didn't fit the 3-4 system" he was installing. Rex takes the best players he can get his hands on and schemes around them. If Rex could learn offensive principals from a seriously good offensive mind like Wig or some other offensive HCs throughout the league, and apply his defensive principals to the offense, the Jets would be a juggernaut. In light of all that, Rex is still here and he should remain here. Again, I admit my man crush for Rex but he's the best coach this team has had since St Swithens day.
If Idzik were GM likely Darrel Bevel. The more interesting question to me is if Woody had fired Rex too, would Idzik still be the GM?
Idzik is not going to publicly bash his new HC. And it would be utterly shocking if Rex were extended mid year. I see no way that happens barrng something like a 10-0 start.
If Rex gets extended even after not winning this year I'll be hoping Idzik and/or Woody get extended too...on the rack.
