HAH! Perfect! Earlier in the thread I mentioned Bill O’Brien, because he was the craziest discarded head coach callback I could think of at the moment. But that one is WAAAY better.
Matt Ruhle, Patrick Graham, Mike Holmgren (twice), Matt Campbell all turned down as coaches. George Paton turned down the GM job in 2014. Hope this clears up things.
There were several other potential GM candidates in 2014 that withdrew their name from consideration when Woody wouldn't fire Rex and allow the GM to hire the new HC. Any of them would have been light years better than either Idzik or Mac. I think there were also some other HC candidates that declined an interview.
Hard to believe six pages of responses have been generated over a non starter thread. Saleh is going nowhere period, nor he should.
You know, I read a lot about these things and have never seen anything beyond unsubstantiated rumors . Oft repeated perhaps, but unsubstantiated nonetheless.
This has got to be the very DUMBEST hypothetical I've ever read. There's NO way JD is firing Saleh after just one season....
The Jets are on pace to allow 544 points this season. Anybody who would keep a defensive HC who allowed that to happen on his watch deserves what follows. If the Jets defense is as rancid down the stretch as it has been so far this season Saleh should be escorted out of town on a rail, tar and feathers and all.
Well, which excuse should I bring up here... The Youth excuse might work as the roster is filled with HS football players who have never played a down in the NFL.
Young teams do not rival the worst defensive teams of all time and threaten all-time records. Badly coached teams do that.
Ok.. so I'll use The Rookie CS excuse then.. At this rate, we'll be all out of excuses by week 10. Oh wait....
