Pretty tired of the rip and replace because some sort of weird shock wave goes through this fan base that we’re going to be in cap hell and the franchise will cease to exist because of it or something. A lot of teams find a way to keep most of their good players. Not sure why we can’t do the same. Quinnen Williams is the only one (unfortunately) that could make some sense to ship out. But he came in the league so young it’s not even like he’s in serious trouble for a big decline just yet. All of these guys also play positions where you’d leave massive gaps except for maybe Breece, if traded. It’s like when we traded Revis to take Dee Milner.
This! you don’t get better by trading away good young talent The Jamal Adams trade made so much sense because while flashy, he played a non premium position where only a few players are difference makers (Reed, Polamalu) and he wasn’t even a good cover guy. but our young talent like GW, Sauce, Q are all good young and play key positions. I get that DT is not usually one of those premium positions but there are a few guys who make it so because they are very disruptive…guys like Sapp, Donald, etc. Q is not really at that level but he’s in that mold and when we had talent off the edge last year he was very productive…this year the edge talent declined once JJ got hurt and he was double teamed and then with the coaching change and losing the entire defense kind of gave up but he’s talented I’d be looking to extend our young talent instead of trading it all away just to rebuild yet again for the 80th time. Fuck that. we have some pieces. Just need the most critical one at QB but I don’t want to gut the team and have to watch another three years of fucking rebuilding
Maybe those players are the problem then. I know of the McDaniel example, but on the contrary there’s also the McDermott/Beane example. They did the same thing and but it worked. Bills hadn’t made the playoffs in 17 years, they come into a bad team and trade away all its best players (Sammy Watkins, Ronald Darby, Marcel Dareus, etc) to make it an even worse team. The media pounced on them and said they were tanking and ruining the roster. They said they were not tanking, they were getting rid of the players who didn’t have the dna to win. Sure enough, that barren roster full of people no one ever heard of broke the drought and made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. The rest is history. By the way, the QB on that team who broke the drought was…… Tyrod Taylor. So, if you see the jets getting rid of “good players” they may actually be malcontent assholes who are holding the franchise back.
Do you really want to trade insults on our respective teams? Because I promise you’ll lose miserably lol.
