Correct, like the essay from German Lopez. That is his summary of the forces that have contributed to the current economic and political situation in Sri Lanka. We should note that he does not mention fertilizer restrictions or the tea crop at all. Should he have?

Even if the banning of certain fertilizers was 100% responsible for the failure of the tea crops that would still not be responsible for anywhere near the damage done to the economy by the collapse of the tourist industry through terrorist bombings and Covid which your initial post declared the cause. That was the claim made in the post with which you opened this thread; no matter how you attempt to restate it that was simply wrong. Your quote above about food shortages throughout the globe changes nothing but nonetheless you now change course and attempt to replace failures in the tea crop as your OP stressed with global food shortages.

Your own link to World Economics identifies your 98.1 figure for Sri Lanka, not as the ESG as you and Blackmon would have us believe but as the score for its Emissions Index, part of its overall Environmental Index which is merely a component of the actual ESG. ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance and is calculated from all three metrics. Thanks for the link which reveals the proper source and perspective.
