That a fools bet. This proves right here how unfair some of you are to Geno. You expect him to do better then Fitz best game on Geno first full week with the 1st since TC. I'll pass.
It KILLS me to listen to people piss away a season with the first statement bolded!! Let me tell you what it does. Mangold is a year older...hell...Brick too. Everyone is a year older for that matter. No two seasons are the same. Just because we got off to a decent start this year doesn't mean next year builds on shit. Just look at the Colts. You play every single year as if that year is your last in the NFL...because it just might be! If the coaching staff had any inclination that Geno was significantly better than Fitz he would have been in as soon as he was ready. No, you do absolutely everything within your power and under the Salary Cap to ensure that you don't throw this season away. And that is the end of that story. On the second bolded...IF Fitz tore ligaments in his thumb...he's done for the year. I know...I've done it and it isn't pretty. If he weren't a QB I might agree but anyone who touches the ball on every snap...no, IF it's a tear(s) it's over for 2015.
The Jets are built for 2015. No year in the next couple is likely to be better. We're two years out from 2012 all over again, if that.
Interceptions? thought i only seen one.. which fitz commits every game. Geno didn't allow car to throw a perfect rating and 3 tds in the first half. Geno isn't responsible for murray getting a zillion yards per carry. When i look at how Fitz played when the run got shut down vs how Geno did yesterday.. Geno > Fitz in those 2 situations. Geno ripped that defense after the pick all the way until it was too late anyway. He's a young QB why wouldnt we give him time? He's not Jamarcus Russell. Guess i'm still a geno bot. ^_^
If Fitz is out and Geno can play I'd start him on Sunday. But we're still in a position to get a wildcard and this isn't a tryout situation. I sign or trade for a veteran who can start in a week or two. If Geno plays ok he remains the starter. But if we see Bad Geno he sits. In case things get out of hand and we go into a losing streak that's when I go to Petty for a start.
His stats looked pretty good yesterday, but all anyone can remember is the end of that game where Geno made a bunch of stupid mistakes. That's the problem with Geno. He makes some really good plays at times through the air and on the ground, but he always makes incredibly stupid plays.
And his incredibly stupid plays come at incredibly inopportune times when the game is up for grabs. For everyone arguing that Geno played well yesterday, Go back and chart his plays yesterday ONCE WE GOT WITHIN TWO SCORES.
That's what drives me insane when I watch Geno play. His pocket awareness is awful. Even if the pocket is clean, he wants to drift out to the right once his first read is taken away.
I guess the whole geno thing is back and the differences will continue. I just wish the whole bs would end one way or another. I still say geno will shit the bed and it's not OK. Making excuses for Fitz's wins and Geno's losses just sucks. We shall see but I put my money on Bowles going right back to Fitz.. I will say if he excels I will retract all the terrible things I said about him. That's a big IF.
