Why is there going to be a bidding war for him? The Jets own a team option on him to keep him for 2015 on the average salary of the 3rd through 25th player in the draft.

He can't even hit free agency til following the 2015 season. They'll re up his deal next year hence why Idzik is saving cap space to rollover. Then as the poster earlier indicated he should be given a deal with a huge cap hit in 2015 that slowly goes down as he gets older.

How many teams will have the potential cap space and positional need to try and sign him to a deal away from us? Pittsburg? Jacksonville?

So we have him under his rookie deal through next offseason too ? I thought this upcoming season is the option year.

I believe they had to pickup the option following last year's season but it's exercised through the 2015 season at $6.96 million for that year. I might be wrong if I interpreted the contract wrong but I believe that's how it works.

Nah i just looked into you are right. Idk why i thought all this time this was his final year in that rookie deal. I wouldnt have even posted what i did if i knew that lol. But still and all we should get this man paid before he has monster 15-20 sack season and really deserves to be paid in that Watt ball park!

I don't think anyone will be complain about a 15+ sack season regardless if he commands big money. It'll mean our pass defense is very stable.
