I feel like I've posted this before but I went back through this thread to see if I had posted and didn't see it so... My Jets fandom all stems from my avatar, Wayne Chrebet. Back in the day, I played football and was always a little smaller. Played CB, RB, WR, etc. during my elementary/pre-high school years so I loved Chrebet's story because it made me feel like I had a chance to make it to the NFL too haha (foolish childhood dreams, amirite?). Fast forward to HS, I hit a growth spurt, and I went from a 5'9" RB/CB my freshman year in HS to a 6'2" TE/LB by my sophomore season so that narrative didn't really track for me anymore. However, at that point the damage had been done and I was hooked. Started to follow the team during the Parcells years. That offense was just so much fun to watch. Key, Chrebet, Martin, Testaverde. Fast forward a little bit, and I think I really came into my fandom during the Herm years. That offense was also so much fun to watch. Chad, Martin, Coles, Moss, Chrebet. I guess I just didn't know how good I had it at the time. Looking back on it now, the Jets were always a pretty competitive team during that late 90's-2010 era. From '98 to 2010, the Jets made the playoffs 7 times. Crazy. Here's to hoping the team is heading back in that direction!
