The Jets have the best defensive coach in the game and one of the best offensive coaches. That's where the numbers are coming from. You can have great pieces at all levels of the defense, like the Lions, and still be middle of the pack because you don't have a great plan and somebody calling the plays just right to make it click.
My view hasn't changed. I believe in this team...except for winning multiple playoff games this season.
Well, I expected the defense to be good regardless...... but I didn't think the offense would be able to get out of it's own way. Granted that was the BILLS, but it was nice to see. I'll say 2 game swing on the positive, with 8-8 being very realistic
I was penciled in for a 5-11 train wreck and have to stand by it despite some early encouraging signs. i do like the contributions from the 1st and 2nd year players, also the ones that idzik brought in by FA. good to see contributions in the 1st quarter of the season. not really surprised by milliner - didn't like the pick and never will. whatever happens with him so be it. jury still out on smith but its supposed to be only 3 games in. he does appear poised and says all the right things - i just hope it isn't the delusional fog that has affected ryan and sanchez from time to time. this titan game is by no means a gimme for either team and will tell us alot about the jets and smith.
more often than not, dual top ten rankings gets u in position for at least playoff run. lets see how they rank come december 1st.
I need to see them really play well against a good healthy team that doesn't self destruct. With the mistakes the Jets have made they could very easily be 0-3 right now. So for now I'm sitting on the 4-6 win projection until the show me they can slug it out with a good team.
none. we played a bunch of tomato cans and screwed our best opportunity to beat the depleted pats in the rain.
My prediction has remained the same. 6-8 wins. I hope the Jets overachieve and do more. But 6-8 wins is realistic in my opinion.
It would be very nice after 12 games to still have a shot at playoffs. If early indications are correct. It looks like Denver, Cincinatti, New England- win there divisions- lets give Houston there division- we are then looking to compete against, baltimore, Kansas City, Miami, perhaps tennessee. We play Miami twice and that means we can really control our own destiny against them. I thought I would be happy with 7 wins going in. I think a record of 7-7 with two too play is my new prediction.
I was thinking along the lines of 5 wins, +/- 1. Now I'm thinking 7 wins, +/- 1. Outside shot at nine wins. This is assuming improved play on the part of Geno and other young players as the season goes on. Still, even if the Jets are a bad team, at least they aren't legendarily bad, as ESPN thought they would be.
I thought that it was realistic to hope for six wins and now think it's realistic to hope for eight or nine. I'm also expecting that getting that many wins will be enough for Rex to stick around which I think is for the best. He sure ain't perfect but he's a very good defensive coach, the team plays hard for him, and I'd rather not go through the systems/personnel reboots associated with a new coach.
ESPN had the Jaguars ahead of the Jets in their pre-season power rankings. If that doesn't tell us what those rankings are worth nothing will ever do the trick. The Jaguars should be ranked like 49th out of 32 possible slots at this point. Somebody on the FAN, probably Carton, pointed out that the Jaguars would likely beat Alabama just because every player on their roster is an NFL player whereas you can't say that about the Crimson Tide roster. He was wrong. I think Bama would blow the Jaguars out.
I'm not sure Bama would blow them out; but it would probably be competitive. The very fact that we can entertain the idea of a college team playing a pro team evenly tells you just how bad the Jags truly are.
This team can compete with any team in this league (except the Broncos and Seahawks). This defense can hold the remaining 13 teams offense in check. Saints might give us a problem but Rex shut down the Saints in 2009 when they were clicking on all cylinders so it gives me hope we can hold Brees down again.
I guarantee you the same fans on this site that were predicting 4-5 (or even less) wins before the season started are going to be pissed all to high heaven when the Jets end up 7-9.
Bama could barely even blow out Colorado State this past weekend. This can't be a serious post. Henne would torch them.
Yup my original was 12-4....I thought we would win 4 games before the bye, including the NE game. My prediction wasn't based 100% on the Jets being all that, but also on how bad I thought a lot of teams we play would be, including NE. I thought we had a good shot at 12 wins so I took it!
On July 31st, I posted on this site 11-5 if Geno started. So far, I predicted the first 3 games right. Bucs: Win Patriots: Loss Bills: Win Titans: Win Falcons: Loss Steelers: Win Patriots: Win Bengals: Loss Saints: Loss Bills: Win Ravens: Win Dolphins: Loss Raiders: Win Panthers: Win Browns: Win Dolphins: Win
