People need to get off this stupid idea that Mac somehow fucked up when he signed Revis? The whole idea of posting that makes the poster look like the fool.......

    1) Revis was at the very top of his game when Mac resigned him.

    2) The going rate for a veteran, legendary shut down corner is apparently 14 million per season. Revis' agents negotiated with the Jets and Mac signed him for what was probably the most money Revis could get on the FA market. It was more, but it was barely more than the Patsies.

    3) Signing Revis through FA meant he is NOT a Patriot. The move of signing not only made our team better, it tremendously weakened our nemesis and arch enemy.

Suggesting signing Revis was a bad move is DUMB. The move is still paying dividends today............

    I stopped reading right there.

Revis was at the top of his game in 2009, and hasn't been at that level since.

Regardless of what of cap situation is. Facts are macc put Bowles in a position to win. The secondary isn't as bad as it looks talent wise. They are not disciplined at all. Whether that's on bowls or individual coaches is besides the point. Bowles flat out consistently comes with a team the is obviously unprepared. I think it's obvious that geno could have EASILY got us to this point in the same fashion fits has. So besides the revis and fitz deal macc has be a huge upgrade at gm. Bowles just is no different then Rex, he just doesn't have as big of a mouth.

According to NJ.com, Petty was practicing in full (for the first time since preseason I believe) on Thursday and Hack was getting some work in on the scout team while he was hurt. Petty took a brutal shot in preseason and I thought he might be out for at least half of the season because of it. To the extent of if they're prepping him to be the starter in the next few weeks, I doubt that as Bowles is still riding with Fitz...for now.

Hopefully we won't be riding with Bowels after the bye...although I know that is just wishful thinking.

That Revis deal does look bad, yea. Extending Mo I was all for it. Drafting Hack I was not a fan of at all, especially in the 2nd. Lee is proving his worth thus far and drafting Williams last year was a no-brainer.

What happened with Jeremy Kerley? He was a decent contributor for multiple years, obviously not a world beater, but a competent #2 / #3 WR. He barely played at all last year in Gailey's system, and then was cut to save money. Now he's the leading receiver on the Niners.

The Niners aren't good on offense by any stretch of the imagination, but Decker's injury makes me wish we had Kerley right about now. Was it really necessary to cut the guy to save less than 2 mil? Enunwa may have a higher ceiling, but Kerley is a guy you can reliably go to in big 3rd down spots. The rookies still have a ways to go.

For anyone who thinks Mac blinked and overpaid Fitz, I have a question for you. IF Mac DIDN'T cave and instead hired a Hoyer type, or even stuck with Geno, AND we're sitting here at 1-4 looking at 1-6, would ANY of you still be praising Mac for saving a few of Woddy's $$$'s?

Or would 100% of you be screaming for his head for NOT getting record-setting, locker room favorite, Fitz back in here when he had the chance?

    Be honest.

He was in Bowles doghouse for whatever reason. When he saw playing time it was as a PR, and he fair caught everything he could.

    Here is my 2 cents.

He has to share some of the bad decisions making no doubt.

I truly believe the Fitz signing is NOT on him! He was painted into a corner with how verbal the team was on bringing him back especially Decker and Marshall. I think Mac wasn't sold on Fitz hence drafting Hack and only giving him a 1 year deal.

He won't make that mistake again!

Mo was a good deal at market value if not a bit less. I liked the deal.

His drafting strategy seems to be either take the slam dunk player or the boom/bust guy. It's worked with The big cat as the slam dunk but yet to be seen from the boom/bust players. The drafting needs to be better to be honest.

Looks like we are on our way to a top 10 draft selection and he needs to hit his top 3 picks out of the park because this team is aging quickly.

I think Maac overrated the secondary and has neglected/overrated the O-Line. Those are the two areas I want to see improved going forward.

I don’t blame him for anything else. I don’t see where we could blame him. The opportunity hasn’t presented itself to make a move for a QB yet. He’s drafted a couple of projects and traded for a journey to hold the fort until one of the them hopefully develops. That’s fine. Don’t just draft a QB high just to do it. Not unless you believe in a guy.

    he needs to:

    1. jettison revis, harris and fitzpatrick this offseason
    2. Move down in draft and secure more picks
    3. get on the OL in the draft, damn it. Take a lesson from the cowboys on what a good OL can do
    4. DON"T DRAFT ANOTHER QB--we have 2 young QBs we have not even looked at yet
    5. Tell Bowles to fire his def. coordinator and if he refuses fire bowles
    6. consider moving richardson--head case who may still have value

If he does ONE of these things I'd be surprised

Because of the Cap situation when he came in and the state of the roster the makeover was going to take 3-4 seasons. I knew that when he came in to take over. I thought last season the Jets over performed and fans got unrealistic expectations based off of a weak schedule.

The one move I question was the resigning of a 30 year old CB for #1 CB money, he was a #1 CB when he signed, but the length of the contract was a bad decision.

It's all on Mac. It's his team. Not only did he put a bad team on the field, which can be excused if he was deliberately rebuilding, he put it on the field believing it was a team competing for the playoffs which puts his ability to evaluate a team in question.

And just for fun, this is a Jets team in which three of their four losses have come to teams that subsequently lost the very next week. So it isn't as if we are losing to truly great teams; the Jets make other teams look better than they are.

    Quoted for truth.

Everybody would have wanted his head on a platter. We know what Fitz is. He's a stop gap journeyman QB. Hack and Petty were not ready, the Jets needed a 1 year temp fix. He is a mediocre QB who struggles against good defenses, but can be decent with talent around him. $12m is low for a starting QB, but it's not he like broke the bank. He's better than Geno Smith or Mark Sanchez. Trust me, it could be way worse.

Maybe the Jets outta just throw in the towel and trade Fitz & Geno and a pick for Romo. I say that half joking, obviously, but what if?

That's nonsense. If we threw out Geno or some other journeyman scrub against this schedule and were 1-4 it would be exactly what we expected. That was the entire point of resigning Fitz from the Fitz cheerleaders -- he gave us "the best chance to win." Fitz was supposed to be why we wouldn't be 1-4 and why he should be our QB rather than Geno or anyone else. And yet we are 1-4. Now you are arguing the expectations with Fitz should have been the same as if it was Geno?

Resigning Fitz was a waste, and those of us who were opposed to it know it. Those of us who were opposed to signing Fitz didn't think starting Geno meant that we'd be better than with Fitz, it was that we believed it was a waste because we likely wouldn't be any better with Fitz plus it would be a lost a year of development of the other QB's on the roster.

It's the very definition of strawman to just apply your reasoning to those who were opposed to signing Fitz to try to dispute your concocted inference of non-existent hypocrisy. And your fantasy argument you are disputing certainly bears no resemblance to the actual reasoning I just provided that opposed resigning Fitz. So what truth are you actually quoting?

His point was that people would blame Mac for not signing Fitz, and use the 1-4 record to justify it. It's similar to how people have already made up their mind that it was a bad decision, because of the 1-4 record. I say it is too early to call. We don't know how the rest of the season will play out.
