How many of you Tebow fans really believe he will be a starting QB in NFL?

    Well either:

    1. Sexual deviant Rex likes Mark, and dislikes Tebow and dislikes that Tanny brought in Tebow.

    Or

    2. Mark is closer to developing a standard NFL QB skillset than Tebow, and the team has a shit ton invested in him.

I would go with #2, but I still think they should have started Tebow from the start of this season.

Something seems obvious to me at this point, that doesn't seem to be discussed very much in these Tebow threads.

Leave out Tebow in particular. I think now that a quarterback's running ability is starting to become recognized as being incredibly powerful.

I'm not talking about running the read option, the spread, or any variation. Just mobility to avoid sacks, and make positive rushing plays when the play breaks down, or on a designed run.

I tend to think that offenses with the qb as a designed part of the running game are the future of NFL (and college) offenses.

But even if that doesn't happen, I think that mobility is going to be more valued in a quarterback than it has been. So much so, that I think the kind of quarterback that is taken early will change. Guys like Russell Wilson may come to be more valued than guys like Matt Ryan. If neither one has a cannon, go with the guy who can run even if he is 5 inches or so shorter.

Agreed. Mobility, as it always has been seen as more of a bonus. It will get more consideration than it used to. Tebow's style of game isn't the problem for him. As you say, more and more teams have taken an interrest in going that route.

But Tebow's Achilles heel is that the throwing thing is still the most important thing in a QB. They STILL have to be able to beat teams from the pocket. That is the way offensive lines are designed, to create a pocket they can protect and expect a QB to be. The mobility is an asset when that breaks down.

This is why guys like RGIII, Cam Newton, and others are turning heads while Tebow is pulling splinters out of his ass from all that bench time.
