belicheck would not of been fired without brady, he got to the playoffs with the Browns in a dysfunctional setting if belichek was coaching this team, we'd probably be 7-2 give the asshole the credit he deserves, brady was a crucial part to the 2001 run, but the defense is what made that team
things werent goin to well that night mo lewis bludgeoned drew bledsoe, they were looking pretty ugly for the patriots and that single play turned that entire piece of crap franchise around. i really didnt want him when bill parcells left, im glad he went on up to be with the massholes and dont care to want him back. then again i could have dealt with not having anything to do with sperm edwards for most of this decade.
That's frigging priceless, they totally wanted him so much that they waited until the 6th round. You eat that shit up, don't you? I think I see a harpoon in your lower lip.
hooray for don shula to give even more credibility to spygate, its like michael jordan saying kobe bryant is trash, although he is prolly just worried about his 16-0 season, dirty dolphins
Don Shula is just trying to protect his perfect season. He said stuff about the Colts when we threatened it also. Does Don remember that his team had the easiest schedule in NFL history the year they did it??? He has nothing to worry about seeing that the Colts will beat the Patriots in the playoffs.
IN THE SIXTH ROUND! Do you really think they looked at Tom Brady in that draft and said, gee this kid could be HoF material. Maybe we can get him cheap in the 6th round and look like geniuses. Drafting Brady and him turning out to be who he has was flat out luck. Trying to make it out to be anything more than that is purely delusional imagination at work.
No. They didn't know he was going to be a HOF player but he was on their board and in the 6th round he was too good to pass up. Why not ask the Jets where they had him on their draft board. We all know they had Bryan Thomas ranked higher than Ed Reed. BTW, the draft book I read GMjr had Brady as a 3rd round talent.
They had him on the draft board in the 6th round. And??? They still had no idea he would have been this good. The other guy was saying they also had Tim Rattay on their draft board.... look how that has turned out. It doesn't make them a genuis for having him on the board. If anyone thought he was going to be THAT good they would have taken him a lot sooner.
Couple of things: 1. I absolutely despise Tony Dungy. To me he represents everything that is wrong with America today. A holier-than-thou right-wing "christian" homophobe. 2. We'll never know, but I doubt Belichick would have thought that drafting Chad Pennington with a first-round draft pick was a sensible way to use a first-round pick. It's not a matter of "targeting" someone in a particular round: the idea is to get value for the pick. The Patriots have used a lot of their late draft picks on quarterbacks (and they sign Matt Guttierez as an undrafted free agent, who I think is as good as Kliff Kingsbury or Matt Cassell). So far one of those late round QBs has turned out really well.
Drafting QBs is a crap shoot. Half the QBs taken in the 1st round are gone within 5 years. Some 4th, 5th and 6th round QB are still playing 2003 draft 1st round: Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman. 6th round: Brooks Bollinger 2002 draft 1st: David Carr, Joey harrington, Patrick Ramsey. 4th. David Garrard 2000 draft 1st: Chad Pennington. 6th: Marc Bulger, Tom Brady 7th: Tim Rattay, Jarrious Jackson OK, The Pats were lucky that Brady turned out this good. Good scouting, good drafting and good signings have made this team. Assante Samuels is in the top 3 of CBs I believe he was a 4th round pick. I guess they were just lucky here too.
The chicken was there when the egg got drafted; the tuna wanted Delholm but the rest of the staff wanted egg boy.
Mangini Needs to show some fire if he wants any kind of street cred's what ever that means. He is too timid and non-explosive. He would relay the information of a car wreck and sound like he reading a bed time story. This guy needs to breath some fire once and a while or He will loose the respect of fans and his players !(if he hasnt already)
If they KNEW that he would be such a great QB then why did they wait until the 6th round to select him??
BB sneered at Dungy (Herm's brother) after the game because the officials did everything in their power to give the game to the Colts. These jerks are so incompetent, that even when they try to "fix" games, they fail. Next time, don't make it so obvious guys. We know Peyton and Dungy are the NFL's glamour boys. Manning because he sells a lot of jerseys and Dungy because he perpetuates the "myth" that anyone can make it in America. Total BS! As for Shula, this guy was the most overrated coach in the history of the game. He did absolutely nothing in his last quarter century of coaching, except drive the Fins to the ground. I think he's coming down with Alzheimer's and nothing he says should be taken seriously.
I was thinking about the title of this thread overnight (having forgotten the substance of the discussion) and it occurred to me that an effective way for Mangini to gain some "street cred" would be for him to leave his wife and take up with a Hollywood actress. As far as I know, Bridget Moynihan is available.
