    poll: rate Bricks performance

In your opinions what grade would you put on Dbricks performance so far in his early career?

Our pass blocking has been probably the strongest part of this team so far. It's allowed Pennington to stay healthy and given him time to make plenty of plays in the passing game. Has D'brick slipped up a few times. Absolutely, but he has more than held his own against top flight talent. I thought teh pick was good at the time and after watching him play I think it was even better now. I don't see anyway he doesn't become a top flight tackle in this league.

    I totally agree.

There is so much more on this team to complain about. He is a rookie going against arguably every top flight DE possible. He has more then held his own. Pennington has had ample time to make plays and has not had to run for his life. In fact last year our QB's were getting killed. Not so this year. Ferguson is in large part the reason.

I do not understand people here sometimes. Who would have been a better pick at the #4 spot? Please do not cherry pick a late first or second round player that turns out to be a steal.

Sure we can go and say, hey we could have traded down got Leinert/Cutler and then taken McNeil with the extra pick so on and so forth ........................ well this draft is going to turn out to be pretty damn good if you ask me. We have already leapfrogged the Dolphins because of it and I would say the Bills as well.

If I was to look at the future of the Jets we got at least 4 impact players:

    1.) Ferguson
    2.) Mangold
    3.) B. Smith
    4.) L. Washington

Then there is the possiblity we got the QB of the future as well. That is not even taking into account the rape of Washington to get an extra 2nd rounder. How many drafts in the last 5 years has this happened? Look at last year which was an absolute abortion, Kerry Rhodes aside.

Stop being nits and complain about our poor Guard play or our poor D-line because that is where our real problems lie.

This thread is a joke. The kid's a rookie, and so far Chad's not dead, so he has to be doing something right. Who's next? Are you savages going to start bashing Mangold too?

    Wanna bash someone, bash Bustertson.

I voted B. By the end of next season I expect to be voting A+. He has all the tools - he needs experience and he also needs to add about 30 pounds. He'll be a good one down the road...

    He's done absolutely nothing!!!

Obviously one else here has the Direct TV isolation feature?

I do and utilize it after each game.

D'Brick has been awful. Plain awful.

    Never opens a rushing lane.

His pass blocking has been almost as bad. Don't rely on stats. Watch him play. He's a complete liability right now

OK A CHALLANGE!!! Post a link to a single play where D'Brick didnt get owned!!!

Just one play. In fact any play this season (not pre-season) will qualify.

One play where he stands his ground and I will shut up

How about all the plays where Pennington had all the time in the world to pass the ball. If D'Brick was so bad his man would get a lot more sacks. I don't understand what you are trying to say and you didn't answer my question. What were your expectations of D'Brick against those three top pass rushers?

Show me one play this entire season where he didn't get owned!! One play

I don't care if it is against a FS or CB. He's just so bad right now.

Go easy on him... Statistically on paper, and officially, Miami has the biggest D in the league. Meaning size. Plan on a rookie starting tackle to get owned by a D like Miami.

Lol Im sorry I don't mean to laugh but you say Pennington has time because of the Play action? Yes teams fear our 2.1 YPC. Listen its been said already D'brick has gone against the best. (You can say we lost those games since we did) But it was not because of his play. If you want to TiVo things and Isolate plays and pretend your an NFL scout by all means you have the right to do so. Just don't say a man isn't doing his job. Pennington is healthy and a top QB in this league, and this is without a running game. If D'brick was the worst of our problems Id be ecstatic. I guess you should Tivo the 4th quarter when our defense nearly blows the game.

We need a pair of big Gs. I guess Kendall can do for now, but seriously, we need a mauler for RG, and I'd like a mauler at RT but I wouldn't mind more of a pass blocker there too since I think RT is rapidly becoming a second LT with the importance of the passing game being increased in the NFL.

    What di I expect?

I expect to see a few shining moments, even against these fine pass rushers. Just one or two plays where I can say wow, that's why he's a number 2 pick. He hasn't had a single moment like that since that pre-season block downfield.

Bottom line is he will face Jason Taylor and Richard Seymor twice each, every year. Good teams, have great DE's . SD does. Ind does. Cinci does

What bothers me more, is that no matter what moves these guys use on him it works. He just never locks his man.

Not to mention we don't even expect him to run block.

I just can't justify this pick yet. If he wasn't a rookie, inarguably you would give him a big fat F.

Watch the tape. He's clearly not the reason why Chad has time.

I agree, I think more teams are focusing more on pass rushing. Teams like the Giants with Osi and Strahan and the Colts with Mathis and Freeney are already applying this theory.
