Everyone gives Champ the business, but he is essentially correct that inconsistent and poor management starting with the Johnsons has produced a poor product on the field( including Spec Teams) since they bought the organization It starts at the top and this entire CS they hired has stunk it up since day one ..thanks Get A Woody and rip off the Fans Johnsons!!!!! Grr..
while we trade away draft picks, the pats trade down and stockplie them. also, the giants, steelers, packers, etc. do a much better job drafting in the first place. beyond that, look at the head coach and the special teams coach. right now, the tuna would be going beseark. tons of bodies would be moving in and out as he scans the waiver wire.
I think I read something this week that said that the Jets weren't really working on STs in TC. If so, that would explain last night's STs debacle.
facts We have had to watch the pats pick up everyone elses throw away's and the turn them into legit players that play for multiple years on their roster. Thier roster is packed with players considered not good enough to keep on other teams rosters.
when their offensive line started showing some cracks, the retired o-line coach was suddenly back on the job and his successor was gone.
While I believe you are partially right, it’s a bit of both. A team’s overall talent and depth absolutely plays a huge part. A great coach like Westy makes them better. I also believe because of his standing as a great special teams coach he had a lot of say in the bottom of the roster, much more so than the current coaches. Peake is a good example. He’s shit on offense, but a starter on specials as a gunner. He’d stay under westhoff. I doubt we retain him this year because we can’t give up on failed draft picks like Stewart and Hansen. Mikes standing as a coach got him better players and made him look better as a result. This current regime will not follow suit and the team will suffer for it.
Champ cam make good points about the ownership and overall direction of the team. He’s far too black and white though. I’ll enjoy the ups and downs of the season. I’ll take further joy out of analyzing the pros and cons of the players, roster make up, and even the coaching staff and front office that we as fans get to see. What is annoying is his constant negative banter. Sure there is a time and place for it, but he brings it 100% if the time.
Ever watch PeeWee soccer? It's hysterical when all the little kids run to the ball and no one holds their position. It not so funny when a pro football team does it.
Every single day there are babies in the nursery one of them is the ugliest; that's a fact - deal with it. The problem is the Jets and their fans have spent far too many days as the family of the ugliest baby; denying this does not solve the problem.
D My question would be, WTF not. It's been a weakness, were looking to play the field position game, short passes and runs. That's inexcusable if true. Especially with Enunwa and Pryor back, the handful of players that will only stick on special teams should have been working all week.
Thats right Champ and I with the rest of the 1969 crew go back to Sonny werblin, Leon Hess etc What I am saying is since the Johnson family has owned the team we have had a carousel of Coaches good bad and in between. Resulting in the NYJets still enjoying doormat status in the NFL and of course no SB You would think Woody would have elevated his thinking and management skills but Bowles and company is what you get...triple feh So the Johnsons are either poor decision makers (extending Bowles?) or no one good wants to work for them (we get a rookie GM/HC) or a combination of the two
It's really easy to trade down for more picks (instead of "trading away" picks) and have better draft(s) when your Franchise is cemented in stone with Franchise caliber signal callers (to actually, build around) in Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger & Rodgers ala all proven SB winning Quarterbacks. Apples to oranges and not fair comparison's when you've only had the likes of Shitztragic, Geno, Petty, Hackenberg and McCown to "build around"... Well until now, that is.
