How good can this Jets 3-4 Defense be in 08?

    We'll see by the 2nd pre-season game. Very early to tell by paper. Jets' still have weakness's at DE, CB & NT.

    Hopefully Jets can sign a DE & either sign a CB or trade for one. {Lito Shepard for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick in '09' sounds real nice to me.}

    Jets' DE's are undersized for there 3-4 defense. Coleman is a good back-up, but maore size & talent is definitely needed at this position. Jets' need & will probally draft a highly talented DL with there #1 pick next year....to play next to Kris Jenkins.

    A back-up NT on the roster would be a very nice addition & I would have less stress if Kris Jenkins get injuried. Also a back-up to spell him during the games...with little to no drop-off would be very valuable. Pouha is the only available NT besides Jenkins on roster. Perhaps signing a Ted Washington or another big body.

    Signing another beastly veteran ILB would also help add depth & toughness to defense.

    *NUGGET* ....Jets' most potent & effective DL front 3, as of todays roster is .....Mosley & Pouha as DE's & Jenkins at NT... :beer:

    I'm pumped for a good D. Nothing is more deflating than the whole stadium getting up on 3rd and long and having the opponent get the first down. After a few times it takes everyone right out of the game, and it seems to happen every game. We need to get off the field, it's now the third year under a defensive coach, it's time.

    Has everybody totally given up on Justin Miller? I keep hearing about our lack of decent CBs. Okay, he's had a less than stellar start to his career, but why is everyone sort of automatically assuming he's a bust? It's like the guy doesn't exist on the roster any more. He's had the entire offseason to work things out and he's still got this TC to prove he was worthy of the pick. I'd like to think he can turn his career around, get his act together and show us he's more than just a return man.

    I hope so. It worries me when a guy whose main asset is speed injures a knee like that. Like Leon Johnson, he was never the same.

    Its not that I've given up on Justin Miller, it's just that for his skill-set, Safety is a better position for him. He' can't cover a WR w/o face guarding him....don't u remember ? He doesn't have good backpedaling skills, which is essential for a CB. He plays much better when he's facing the play & running up to the play. Jets' are playing him out of his best position. Alot like Hobson...Jets' had him playing OLB, when even a blindman could see he was better suited at ILB. Isn't that where N.E. put him when they signed him ...duh! Jets' can be weird like that...go figure.:breakdance:

    I really feel that Miller has all the potential and talent in the world to become a great cornerback for this Jets team for years to come, Im talking about #1 Cornerback potential. This kid has Speed, Quickness, Field Vision, the ability to make the tough tackle the only thing he needs to work on is turning his head around to avoid the silly PI, that it... Just turn your head around, play the ball and make the play. Miller is still young, hes only 23 I believe, its not like hes 26-27 and still making the same mistakes.

    With all that said, even if Miller has an off year at the CB position, we still have a veteran CB in Poteat to play alongside Revis and Rhodes in the secondary... And we also have Drew Coleman who I expect alot from this year as our nickel back.

    Maybe we can engineer a #1 cornerback. Just put Poteat's head on Millers body, and voila...Hank Miller, the best cornerback in the league.
