The Jets could go to the super bowl any year. You never know what could happen.

doing that allows us to address other positions in the future.

now we can get two skill players with the first two picks next yr.

i didnt even want the brick pick but theres logic behind it.

To use a 4th round pick & maybe wind up with a "average" to "below average" lineman IMHO is really quite stupid when average to below average OLman are a dime a dozen

You're right. But, the Jets selected 2 very talented Olinemen. So I am missing your point here.

i give the jets optomistically 2 seasons to turn it around and get back into the PLAYOFF mix. we have a looooooong way to go before we get close to the superbowl. i say maybe 5 years if we have good offseason signings and good draft picks and everyone, well mostly everyone that is key to our team stays healthy. i mean dont get me wrong i'm a proud jet fan but i have to be realistic here.

    4th overall pick.

listen, i completely agree with you. i prolly wouldve taken vernon davis at 4, or traded down. but almost any player you draft has a chance of being "average" to "below average".

listen i wanted 1 skill player in the 1st rd so i understand your frame of thought.

but, do you not see the logic in attempting to draft the best LT and best C available?

IF they live up to the hype our line is SET for a decade (barring injury). and thats just like any other draft pick, IF. people will expect reggie bush to play like barry sanders, will it happen? lets see.

Yes but some players have know attributes which makes the pick less risky. Like WRs you will know if they can catch the ball, are fleet afoot, willing to go over the middle, willing to block DF. Same goes for TEs except you add to that position blocking on the line besides the other things. RBs you will know if they can catch passes, get to the hole quickly if one exists if not do they have the speed to get outside, Block at the line & block for another back. DBs do they have instinct to get to the ball, are they fast enough to cover a WR, willing to take on runners that got beyond the LBers so on & so forth. If ESPN analysis of both OLman is anywhere near even 1/2 true then we stupidity invested 2 very hi picks to get just average to below average players. JMHO

The Jets never won a SB with Edwards, getting rid of him brings us closer. At least now we have a chance.

Most WR's take an average of 3 seasons to become above average. Randy Moss was an exception.
With O-lineman you will know in tc if they can run block and pass block.

I really think that RB is the only position where a rookie can come in immediately and be a all-pro type of player.
Most other positions take a few years before they really get it and not get by on talent alone.

H'mm there was a guy named Rice whose impact was immediate. What about someone named Stallworth or was that before your time. With your post I see now anything that makes you think is way beyond you so I have also bestowed on you my SLW rating. Congrats on that

F your SLW ratings. If you indeed read my post it said MOST, not ALL. There are always exceptions to the rule.
And I believe you know where you can stick your SLW ratings....

Jerry Rice in his rookie year started 4 games 49 catches for 927 yards 3td's.
He really took off in his 2nd year.

    John Stallworth
    1974 16 catches for 269 yds 1td
    1975 20 catches for 423yds 4 td's
    1976 9 catches for 111 yds 2 td's

He didnt take off until 1977 44 catches 784 yds 7tds.

Congrats on talking out of your ass again.
