The reality is that the Jets can't turn a youthful surge into more than a temporary gain followed by losses as long as they treat every season like a tactical exercise in how to sell tickets for the current season. What they need to do is come up with a player acquisition strategy that accumulates value over time and begins to let the NFL draft lottery work for them instead of against them.
