Macc drafted him high and he's on the squad even if he's a liability. That's the only reason. Man if Smith and Hackenberg both suck ass that looks so friggin bad for him.

Anderson doesn't have the size to be the #1. He'd get killed over the middle.

Anderson will be as good as the other two guys next to him.If Decker and Enunwa or Marshall are on the field when he is then it will open things up for him.He isnt Odell Beckham

Smith should be more concerned about how Charone Peak affects his chances of staying on the roster. Right now, Smith really hasn't given a reason why he should still be here other than his draft status which IMO is bullshit.

If Petty to Peak starts to heat up, Smith is a goner. Book it..

Smith has shown very little. He will get the next training camp to show something and stay healthy. He will not be guaranteed a roster spot for the 2017 team IMO.

Give Robby Anderson a few cheeseburgers and he'll be alright. He gets open and has good hands, just needs to not get out-muscled.

Anderson doesnt affect Smtih in any way IMO. He has more than earned his spot for next season, and has clearly grabbed the number 4 WR spot. Devin Smith needs to pass Jalin Marshall/Charone Peake if he wants to make the team.

    B. Marshall
    Decker
    Enunwa
    Robertson
    J. Marshall
    Peake/Smith

Brandon Marshall is the best WR the Jets have ever had in my lifetime, yet he might not make sense to be on the roster next year. Sounds crazy, but it is true. Like you said, he costs too much. Enunwa and Anderson could be starters, with Decker in the slot as the true #1/2. Peake has potential, Jalin Marshall has potential and Devin Smith is a 2nd Round WR. Going into the season with those 6 at WR and spending Marshall's $9 million on another position of need seems like common sense.

Every time you say the bold, it makes me want to take a shit right on your face. And no, I'm not German, so it's not a term of endearment.

Marshall had a very good year for the Jets, but don't let the stats fool you, we played some of the shittiest teams we've ever faced last year, teams that made Fitz look like a legit QB, and secondaries that Nick Saban would never field at the college level.

Marshall used to be a caliber that would contend for that "best Jets receiver" spot, but never when he was with the Jets.

GM's are loath to cut their own 1st or 2nd round picks after only 2 years. It's so much easier to part with a Dee Miliner, Coples, and Amaro because it wasn't Mac's decision to draft them. A GM cutting a 2nd round pick after 2 seasons is openly telling the world, "I fucked up". If I were Smith, I would do everything I could in practice to convince Bowles that I can be the answer at KR/PR as a way to get on the field. Right now he has no shot at WR unless someone gets injured. Granted, his limited audition last year as KR went horribly wrong, but the guy has skill that could be utilized on special teams. Hell, make him into a gunner - just get some value at this point.

Sounds like an exercise in CYA to me.. Smith might be a bit leery of ST's because as has been proven, he's not the most durable of guys. You're right about Macc not cutting Smith because of his draft status. He's already on the hook for Hackenberg as being yet another until now useless 2nd round pick.

Who's been better from 1994-2016? No one. Keyshawn? Laveranues? Santana Moss? Braylon Edwards? Santonio Holmes? No. Wayne Chrebet is still my favorite, but Marshall is a better overall WR than him.

Since he's been posting here since the mid 2000s, the best receiver in his lifetime was also the second biggest douchebag this team has ever seen, Keyshawn Johnson.

And it you're wondering, the biggest douchebag this team has ever seen was Gastinaeu.

    We've had this conversation.

And if you're going to use single season stats as your sole argument, then you're also saying that Fitz is the best QB in your lifetime.

Just overall watching Marshall in person, he looks like the best WR I have seen on the Jets. Then he backed it up with amazing stats too. I don't get why me saying that upsets you. You want him to be home grown and play 10 seasons as a Jet to count as the best? The Jets have lacked a true #1 WR for a long time. Now all of a sudden in 2015 they had 2 top WR in Marshall and Decker. Now Enunwa and Anderson have emerged, plus Peake could be good down the line, so a weak position the past decade looks like a strength heading into 2017.

You believe Anderson is a Jane? He is clearly outperforming his draft status.

Forget him doing much, I just want to see Smith play a full season.

A full season would be a nice start. However he is going to have to show some decent production next year to keep that roster spot.
