Alright Everyone. I'm from England and over the last few weeks I have started watching American Football. I'm deciding on a team who I can support and for some reason I have have picked the jets. It would be easy for me to pick NE or the giants. There a few Giants fans on my Rugby teams forum I go on. I was never really interested in visiting America until this year when I brought my wife to NY for her birthday. It really surprised me how much I enjoyed it and I will hopefully be coming back next year for a longer stay. I know the Jets haven't won the SuperBowl since the 60's. My Rugby team hasn't won our championship since the 50's and last won a trophy in '92 with our two local rivals both being successful, so I'm used to be starved of success there. My football (soccer) team on the over hand are one of the most successful and best supported clubs in the world (my local team, so I'm no glory hunter). Can you give me some reasons and hope that I have chosen the right team in the Jets. On another note I can't believe how many of you are happy that the Giants won last night. In England the last thing you would ever wish is for your local rivals to win anything
Welcome to the board. Well, the Giants are not really our rivals (at least not to the extent of the Patriots or the Miami Dolphins), as we play them only once every four years. So, Jets vs. Giants is not exactly like Manchester City vs. Manchester United or Arsenal vs. Chelsea. New England, on the other hand, is our division rival whom we play twice every year. Plus, there's a long time feud between New York and Boston.... As for the Jets being the "right team" to root for, if you like the drama, unbelievable losses and wins (more losses than wins unfortunately), then this is definitely the right team to support.
Found it on google. Have followed the Superbowl since the 1980s from the UKm without much interest in the NFL as a whole. Then started to watch more seriously in the 90s, being a massive Rangers (since 1989) / Yankees fan, I knew I had to support a New York team and the Jets won! Have followed the Jets as closely as possible from the UK ever since. Found this site by chance a few days ago.
lol I'll think you'll find England is part of Scotland now. Just look at all the scots in our government and how they vote in their own laws up there
I googled Jets Forum last year so that i can browse around while at work and here I am. I dont post much but i like to read what others have to say
