You unequivocally accept the notion that Petty will be good in 2 years but question the fact he feels Devin will be a bust even though both prognostications are equally baseless.
Looks like Jets scouting department didn't watch much of it either - not as much as you did. So why aren't you working for them? [I may not be following any one specific school, but I do watch college football nearly every Saturday, if that means anything to you.] What the fuck? So are you saying this current regime will just [give the reins] to Petty in time? How do YOU know about that? Hell. They didn't even have training camp yet for crying out loud. On top of that, that competition shit wasn't even the main point. YOU chose to drift into that crap - why? I don't know? I don't really recall talking about ANYTHING with half semblance of competition, last time I checked. Did I ever say [Petty will be a HoF QB] like roger claimed [Devin will be bust]? When? Where? How? Okay - if Petty doesn't pan out, so what? Jets were where they were before Petty pick. They should draft a QB next year anyway. Until they find a good one.
The Jets already have a playoff caliber defense. All they need is an offense that doesn't constantly give away points. Even the best defenses will have problems if they continually have to be on the field and play from behind. We saw in the Pittsburgh game how this defense can play if given a reasonable lead. With a lead they don't have to be afraid to take a few risks here and there, and pin the other team back. All the Jets need is a QB who can manage a game, even if that QB is a matured Geno. But if not, Fitzpatrick is the type of QB who can, even if he isn't spectacular. That plus better coaching and a stronger defense should get the Jets into the playoffs this year. Those would be my expectations for the next season.
Don't like this pick either--seems like the organization was going to take a WR in the 1st 2 rounds hell or high water and since BigCat fell to us, there was no consideration of other talent outside WR at the time of the pick.
Doesn't seem like the m.o. for Mac and Co. I think Devin Smith will surprise a lot of people here. Look I personally wanted Strong but Smith brings a different dynamic to this offense vs anyone we have on the roster.
I'm basing it on the Woody comment on "getting more targets" for Geno. I think DS was a compromise pick based on input from Woody. Left to his own devices, I think Mac takes someone else at 37. My opinion through inference with no data to back it up. Of course we all want him to succeed but I see his ceiling as #4 WR on a good squad.
One thing I liked about Devin Smith was his performance on the big stage. He was fantastic in the vs Michigan, Big 10 Championship, Sugar Bowl, and National Championship. He seems like he could fit well in this market.
Do you think that Woody wanted Smith or just a WR? Who do you see Mac taking at 37 if not forced to take Smith (or another WR)
haha--you trying to set me up for abuse? I think its clear they didn't like Gregory or Harold so I'm thinking OT. What's your opinion?
Devin Smiths gonna be a gamebreaker you guys are all out to lunch...he was the first pick I can ever remember saying the Jets should take and they actually did
Yeah, he fucked up Wisconsin...All week Badgers +4.5...Melvin Gordon, Melvin Got Yep.He Fucked up Wisconsin. All week..Melvin Gordon, Melvin Gordon....Wisconsin -4.5 Then, they had to actually play the game. 3 catches, 125 yards, 3 scores. Yeah, this guy flat out sucks. Guy puts up 3/125/3 TD's...hard to put 8 in the box, donchathink?
Please put the crack pipe down, Smith and Mauldin have an infinitely better chance of producing than Petty or Stacey who most likely will be cut The stupidity on this board is at an all time high this weekend
