Darnold was better than week 1 — against a better team, down the entire game — still showed the magic
I think Bates & Sam opened the offense up a bit in the second game. First game 198 yds passing to 334 yds passing. They became one dimensional but it showed Sam can get it done. If it weren't for drops he would have had a 400 yard day. This may not seem like much of an improvement but it is only from week 1 to week 2. He is already showing improvement. I expect his next improvement to be in the long passing game. Airing a few out to Robby.
My main concern was whether Darnold was the real deal when we drafted him. Pre-season suggested he might be. Week showed good progress and he followed that up on Sunday. To my eyes he played better against the Dolphins. I don't have that draft concern any more. I'm sold on Darnold.
And the announcers observed—as Sam was rolling out—that he was throwing it away. That’s totally what it looked like, NOT that he missed a wide open Q in the endzone.
He looked fine Normal rook issues but the team and coaches did NOT help him As long as the kid stays healthy we are in amazing position (As long as Bowles is fired)
I think he played perfectly fine. 1) The INT after the turnover was on Pryor not him. 2) Herndon dropped a ball put on his chest which would have been a huge play in the game. The one I put on Darnold was missing Q wide open in the endzone and overthrowing him not giving him a real chance to bring it down. But that's the type of stuff you expect from a rookie and something he will learn from.
Someone Check the IP on this post I'm pretty sure his account was hacked, its too positive for it to be him.
Watching that Bears game where Trubiski was missing players, looked scared and couldn't even hit screens accurately made me happy we have Sam. Those were the kinds of things Sanchez and Geno would do.
