Exactly. People talked about giving Sanchez years (and still think he deserves more shots) the least we can give a gm is a couple years. Besides, you can't judge a draft class in one year anyway it's going to be a three year minimum situation unless he royally screws up
this...... one draft/one offseason doesn't tell us anything. we have to unwind the ball of string tannenbaum, ryan, and johnson knotted up. unless idzik resigns for personal issues, i expect him to be here at least 3-4 years, and likely longer. i would say the second half of the 2014 season should give us a clue - 2 years of draftees will be on the roster and hopefully several starters. a QB should be in place by then and the jets balance sheet should look lean and efficient.
I'll measure our GM success in 2013 after the final game of the regular season. If I feel the franchise is in a better position than it was at the end of the 2012 season, then I'll consider it a success. How much a success will depend on the type of upward trajectory the team will (hopefully) be on.
If we are competitive in every game, morale is able to stay high despite what could be a terrible season, and the cap situation gets better. I'm not expecting a Super Bowl this season, but I think there is a lot of promise in what Idzik is doing.
What I looking for is the Idzik draft picks playing on the field for the season and saying to myself, OH YEAH we can build on this. I want to see youth with hunger and passion to be playing on the Jets. We know it will take some time, But this had to happen.
How could we Measure our GM success in 2013 Success is a super bowl ring. If you are trying to ask how good of a job he is has done, then that's a whole other question. 1. Jets need to have a better record from last year (doubt it, his first few years at his last job the team record was horrible) 2. Needs to get rid of the cancer on our team including Tebow, Holmes and most of all Sancho. (looks like only Tebow is leaving) 3. Set the team up for future success and we won't know that until next year. 4. If he can get the Jets marketing team to stop posing as new members on this board and claiming Idzik is doing something positive and that they have hope and other silly comments. ( It is funny how the Jets are getting slammed on facebook but they are so many new kissups on this board, hmmm) My educated guess, with Woody still the owner he will fail miserably at this job. Attendance is going to go way down, the team will be last or almost last in the division and he will be fired with in two years.
It was our first (shudder). Before this triggers the age-old debate about what we actually gave up, we got Jolley, a 2nd and two 6ths for our first and seventh. We passed on getting Heath Miller in the draft.
By 2015 I'm expecting best team in the AFC East. That's 3 off-seasons with 3 draft classes. That's long enough to get from where the Jets are now to top of the pack, especially with Brady declining in that time frame. This year and next I don't know about but 2015 the Jets need to be highly competitive.
we can't measure his success until 2014 and beyond when he most likely brings in his coach and quarterback replacements
I hope 2014 is when we start to see the competitiveness and then in 2015 we take the next step and are one of the top dogs in the NFL. :jets:
