For the first time in a long time, I am very confident. The Tangini tandem produced one of, if not the best, draft class in recent Jets history and are really starting to build a legitimate player.
Sorry to miss your question. Gut feeling. Jets have hit a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. These two will go down as one of the best management teams to hit the NFL. Obviously, there are a ton of ways for this not to come true. However, based on talent, energy and early results, they look to be a top 20% management team.
Correct. Leon never played the game. But, if he had, he would have been the Marv Thronberry of the NFL
The team was well coached and well prepared last year. There were some mistakes but they basically squeezed the lemon and made lemonade. The Jets are a team with 5 to 10 win talent based on schedule and health. Last year we had a cake schedule coupled with exceptional health. The real test for them is evaluation of players and how quickly they can bring in significant talent upgrades. If they can do that we will compete at the next level. If they can't we will tease for a few years and than take a big slide.
Very confident, more so here in the now then.....countback 10 years or so. Mr M. addressed the 1 need neglected 4 years....THE OL. It starts here, in the trenches the SB is WON in THE TRENCHES. Same on the other side,DL, its all one in the trenches. This regime does excelent in early rounds then all shit hits the fan lets say in later rounds. I believe they will improve, at least I hope in RDs 3-6. These are your diamonds and can make or break a team. We really need a BIG DT 4 sure, RT and G. These I see as a priority. Then WR,CB but my biggest question mark is at QB. Yes I said it, we won't get to or even sniff a SB unless we address this problem. Penneys not it.
Sorry this post is totally incorrect. At the time of the JWN signing the NYJs were owned by 4 partners each holding 25% of the team Wberlin being one another was Townsend. Hess was the 3rd & I want to say Martin (?) was the fourth. What got Hess pissed is Wberlin signed JWN without 1st consulting dear old Leon
Hess was not even consulted by Wberlin when JWN was signed. Also at the time of his signing players then were sort of were like to today's UFAs whomever gave them the best bid got there services since there were 2 totally SEPERATE leagues. You ought to get your facts in order before chucking poo poo against the wall is my HO to U
I don't see the Jets sliding significantly unless they stop building a year early and go for broke with a few veteran free agents at the end of their string. So far they have resisted that temptation. My overall evaluation of the Jets is similar to yours at the moment, with the difference that I'd say they have 5 to 11 win possibilities and will only see the low end of the range if they have a really bad injury run. 11 wins would happen only if Clemens suddenly proved ready to go and was quite good. That would be similar to the Brady effect in New England where they went from that 5 to 11 win range and up to the top of it when Bledsoe got hurt and Brady was ready to go.
I'm very confident in our front office. I'm still pissed that they put me through this All Saint team crap though. You cant visit a Jets board today without someone telling you someone is NOT A MANGINI guy. Can't wait for a couple years to pass by and they actually take a risk on someone. Otherwise...they kick ass.
I think people are dreaming if they think Clemens is going to be the kind of elite QB that is going to significantly upgrade this team. We have rebuilt the running game to the point where Curtis has been replaced, we need to upgrade the front 7 the right side of the OL and hope D'Brick is closer to an elite LT than a JAG. We also need a big time WR at some point.
Extremely confident. We've been making good decisions for the most part, and no "Hermanisms" in sight.
This off season is so unlike the Patriots in as much as their spending frenzy. I believe a lot of that has to do with the fact that they are looking south on I-95 at a divisional rival that is a MAJOR threat, but in all seriousness Thomas was a good pick up and so is Stallworth, but it does NOT relate to them being that much more of a threat than last year. The Foreskins, constantly spend for big time names and what has it gotten them? It's what you get out of the talent you have. BB is a great coach no denying and I know he's going to get the best out of the FA pick ups he has but he is also extremely weary of his young protege' and knows with a year under his belt that Mangini is only going to get better and so is this team, so he has to stock up on talent. We'll be ok.
I'm sure his idea of elaborating is how great Brady is and how he thinks NE will dominate the AFC east for the next 20 years. What do you expect from a Pats fan?
