It's also very real that the rookie QB we draft won't pan out.

I hope Penny can come back and be an efficient QB for us. I truly believe that if the new FO doubted Chad's future ability, he would have been cut. Ramsey has a ton of upside, and I hope he can be the next Drew Brees. I think we need to give these guys a chance before jumping to any conclusions.

I agree that there is a good chance that a rookie QB won't pan out... but don't you think having another option is better than being caught with our pants down in a few years? Like cornerbacks and wide receivers, you can never have enough good QBs. If we draft a QB and he turns out to be better than anyone currently on the roster, then the GM looks like a genius, and we have much more to look forward to in the future. I hope our GM has the foresight to do this so that we don't need to exercise our hindsight later.

ramsey has the ability to be good. With Scottys help and a system built around a strong armed QB it could work

    I get your argument edge72...
and realistically, I see the Jets looking at their draft board round by round and drafting the people that they feel can help them be better now, as opposed to drafting a player that can help them be better 3 -4 yrs from now..

maybe if BALCO were still around, Rameses and Chad could do a few cycles of 'ROIDS and work out with Barry Bonds to improve their arm strength.

patrick ramsey couldn't beat out 45-year old(?) mark brunell. what does that tell you?

Ugh, stop calling him the next Drew Brees. Ramsey can be a lot better than that fraud.

I don't want him to literally become like Brees. I would like to see him make a Drew Brees type of transition where he is labeled a bust early in his career but develops into a solid NFL starter.

I suspect that Drew Brees is about to make yet another transition in his career without Antonio Gates and Ladainian Tomlinson to turn his little dinks into 15-20 yard gains.

Definitely possible. Also, don't forget the shoulder injury...we know first hand how bad they can be!

I really like ramsey and was posting left and right for the jets to grab ramsey, i think he can be a good QB and with more confidence and playing time he can take us where we need to be...

Hopefully he can turn out to be our matt hasselbeck or drew brees.

Yeah, he does but I don't think he saw the best of Ramsey and he didn't give him much if a chance.
