Strange thread, but I'm sure you have the same thing on all Jets boards. Some people seem to buy into the "Magic Tanny" thing a bit too much, as if he was going to perform some midsummer Hanukkah miracle and make our cap space stretch eight times further than it should.

I'm sure Tanny will do his due diligence and contact Aso's agents, which will send the football blogs into further seizures. But how is it good to have a quarter or so of your cap space tied up in the corner position? To have your 2 corners be the 2d and 3d highest paid players on your team - and if Sanchez restructures nicely, the #1 and 2 highest-paid players on your team? That's just nuts. How much sense does it make to pay a guy a Pro-Bowl QB's salary to take the opposing team's #2 WR out of play?

    /dead horse beating.

On Sportcenter at 5 oclock, he said the top 2 locations are the Jets and Texans.

A lot will have to do though if we get Holmes or not. If we don't get Holmes I can see us going all out for Nnamdi and sign Edwards. Rework Sanchez's contract, cut some players and we will have a good looking team. We still need to sign Harris, also Woody said its Jets or nothing and he would love to come back I heard on ESPN Radio yesterday...

Also apparently Cromartie got a big offer from the Raiders, goodbye.

Also I just read off a forum that Dan Lebatard said Nnamdi is in NY today talking to Tannenbaum.

Not sure how legit that is but again time will tell. Peter King tweeted a few days ago that Nnamdi wants to be a Jets(thats how this topic got bumped because I posted his tweet a few days ago) Take it how you want it...

**update** Dan Lebatard apparently said this at the start of the hour (6 oclock eastern time) So its somewhat new news.

Jets offer Cromartie and Holmes a contract...no Nnamdi if these guys agree.

Having an elite #2 CB is not worth the money. The negative effect it would have on other areas of the team outweighs the wow factor of having the two best corners in the game, with overkill on the #2 WR.

Well who's to say that Revis/Aso would always be on the WR. Both guys are big strong and athletic, if an opposing team has a strong #1 WR decent #2 WR and a good TE who's to say you don't have a formation with Revis on the #1 Aso on the TE and take your chances with Wilson on the #2?

Exactly, Rex would have a field day.

In the end of the day, it probably isn't worth it to pay two cornerbacks that much money. But it's certainly fun to think about.

If we can keep Holmes and add Nnamdi I think we should pull the trigger.

It would definitely be an option but I still don't think it's worth it.

I'd still be pumped if we somehow managed to get Aso....but I still feel the negatives outweigh the positives.

  17. I could be reading too much into all this media banter..but I almost get the sense that the Jets are targeting these guys in pairs...either Holmes/Cromartie or Asso/Braylon.

If they get Holmes and can't get either of the corners they'll re-sign Braylon and go after a veteran like Buchanon who can compete w/ Wilson and/or play the nickel.

Seems like a pretty good plan. I don't think Tanny would shop for Asso if it was going to compromise our salary cap long term. They obviously have a reserve on him similar to that of Holmes and feel they can sign him for that figure.

  20. This could also signify that Cromartie is leaning toward accepting the Jets offer as the Raiders reportedly made a huge offer to him.
