Braylon is a clown than too. Yeah I agree that his followers wont have anything to do with his decision, but it makes him look like a clown.
I would love to end up with Aso and Edwards and maybe bring in a cheap wr vet but it isn't going to happen.
signing Aso would kind of diminish Revis's value... he follows the #1 receiver around the entire game, whereas Aso only plays the left side, which would then relegate Revis to the right side
True. But Aso is more than capable of shutting down the other team's #1 if they want to line him up on the left side, which puts Revis on the #2 or slot receiver (a situation where the QB won't even bother looking in that direction.) If this was the MLB, the Jets could sign Asomugha and this would probably be the greatest defense in the history of football. But the NFL has a salary cap, and Nnamdi isn't going to take a discount on the last big contract of his career. People need to stop getting their hopes up, this isn't gonna happen.
No. It would make people throw the ball at Revis, which would cause a turnover, or force a QB to throw into double coverage over the middle.
I'm pretty sure Nnamdi is the highest paid out CB in the history of the game. He made more than Primetime, which is a boatload of money... Just saying.
Sure, but just because he's made money in the past doesn't mean that he'll leave money on the table this time around. He can take a discount in 5 years when he's moved to safety and wants one last chance at a title run. Right now, when he's the second best (if not THE best) corner in football, I have a tough time believing that he won't sign a megadeal.
I wish this thread would just die, but until Aso signs elsewhere people will keep dreaming... That's like saying buying a Lamborghini diminishes my Ferrari's value...idiocy. All it would do is make both of them better. Both would get more targets, knock downs, int's, respect, chicks...
Aso has the ability to follow one wr around. He did last year I think. Not that any of this matters since the jets aren't getting aso.
Who's to say the opportunity to play in NYC with one of your best friends and one of the most player friendly coaches who's a defensive mastermind is available in 5 years? god forbid. What if something happens to Aso before then. The time is now. If he wins a championship here, teamed with Revis... endorsements out the ass.. Plus he wants to get ready for a career after football, so New York makes more sense than Houston.
I am just going to hold out hope that we get the Awesome one, quite honestly since I have no true idea what we really can afford why not hope for the HR and place my faith in Tanny. And honestly there is a hell of a lot of smoke in our interest in Nnamdi to even say that it isn't realistic. If Tanny can get Santonio Holmes for a 5th rounder, I wouldn't put it past him that he can get Aso while at least keeping at least one of our WRs
That was more of a function of that jackass organization ASO was employed by. The Raiders are run by retards, coached by retards, to be viewed by a flaming bunch of retards.
Someone need to create an X and O chart of what Nnamdi would do to this defense. We play 3-4 so we have the 4 men on the Dline. Then we have the 7 guys playing in the back. If Revis and Nnamdi took out the teams 2 best recievers then that would leave 3 Lineback and 2 Safetys to defend 2 or 3 TE/3rd Reciever/3rd down back. That would leave guys like Aaron Hernadez and Gronkowski double teamed which imo would be near shut down also. Blitz wise it would be a complete nightmare for the opponents offense and if we could create a pass rush with our front 4 then forget it, our defense would be one of the best ever. Who would Brady throw to? the receiver Revis is guarding? the receiver Nnamdi is guarding? or a double teamed tight end? Good luck.
This is how I feel. I would give up Holmes or Edwards if we could get Asomugha. Not both, but I would be willing to give up one. We would definitely need to sign another receiver though. I'd be fine starting Holmes/Edwards with J-Co on the other side of the field, but we would need a third receiver for sure, and I don't mean Brad Smith. If our defense could force turnovers, it would be unbelievable. Revis and Aso would take away two receivers, basically forcing a lot of underneath patterns like the Patriots do. I don't know how realistic it is, but the Nnamdi-Jets rumors have been happening for two years now. No reason not to consider it now. He would be a big upgrade on Cromartie. Will it happen? Probably not, so no reason getting overly excited yet. But it is worth discussing. Hence this bloated thread.
What makes you guys so sure that Nnamdi wont take less money for a legitimate shot at a ring? Have you guys spoken to him personally and he said "pay me or GTFOH my face"? I swear people are so pessimistic about this situation If he does go somewhere else than so be it....but to completely write it off as a fairy tale when you hear rumor after rumor by the hour hinting at the possibility of Aso becoming a Jet is ridiculous
Their is a difference tho, Schefter is now saying the Jets are the top landing spot for Nnamdi. Time will tell though
