How about Ed Reed as a coach next year?

Dunbar has done a fantastic job with the D-line, so I think and hope that that will be recognized and that he'll stay.

The rumors are that Idzik is pressing for the non-renewal of a lot of the other coaches' contracts so that he can groom a potentially viable in-house candidate to replace Rex if the Jets do not perform in 2014, and that he wants Rex to have more input in the offense.

The only asst coach Rex should fire is the ST Bafoon who lost us the Panthers game, a shot at the playoffs, and our entire season.

Milliner = burned & benched + Ed Reed = 3 ints and Defensive Rookie of the Week.

Milliner made of point of how much Reed has helped him. There were sideline shots of Milliner and Reed sitting next to each other on the bench laughing and talking technique & strategy.

    Can't argue with the results.

Benching Benching Benching -> 3 ints + DROTW

Now... who do the Jets turn to, for a LB coach? They should get someone good. Doesn't have to be Karl Dunbar-good, but still good enough to make a sensible production out of LB prospects.

P.S. I would also think Ed Reed as the secondary coach could play a big role - like Jim Leonhard played back in 2009.

Reed is pretty talented when playing within the defensive system & scheme he knows. Reed, Allen, Landry, Bush isn't exactly a terrible safety group. I'm sure Idz will be looking at the draft or FA for a possible upgrades anyway so having 2 vets and 3 up and comers isn't a bad place to be. Keeps the vets fresh. And if Reed's health improves being further away from hip surgery, that will only be better play on the field.

He probably will but his playing well after arriving at the Jets probably had a lot to do with playing within Rex's system. He fell off the radar in Texas because it was a completely new system. The only 3 places he could play and still be effective is NYJ, Bal, & NO. Maybe Buffalo under Pettine.
