I look back at last year's draft and I can't see a single player picked in the first twelve spots ahead of Richardson who I'd rather have over him now.
Mostly everyone was against this pick, But I was thinking if were building for the future and this season was going to be a wash,, Why not take a defensive player and give them all a year to Jell. Had no idea Sheldon was going to be this good this fast. And 12 teams ahead of us passed on him. Finally we did it right in the draft.
If mostly everyone was against the pick , I was not one of them. I knew exactly where Rex wanted to go with his team and his defense - build the front 7 with the best possible talent available. It's paying off.
That was an odd play. Ducasse even declared himself an eligible receiver. I have to say, I like it. When somebody is that big and versatile you have to use them where they will help. It would have been even better if Richardson caught a TD. How hilarious would that be? Richardson is still impressing.
Like a lot of other I didn't like the pick at first, but he surely had been impressive. It's going to be tough for him to win DROY though. Kiko Alonso is also playing well and he's at a flashier position.
It says a lot of how they view this kid...they have him drop in coverage, he's in at FB on a goalline package and that swat he had, he got some serious air time...kid is amazing.
According to PFF Richardson is not only in the lead for defensive rookie of the year, but also rookie of the year. Kiko Alonso has been playing very well, but it just shows the impact Richardson has. Him and Wilkerson will be beastly moving forward. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/10/08/race-for-rookie-of-the-year-week-5/
