Houston should start, not Blaylock

Think about what the team did after the 04 season. They decided we were a kick away from a SB. We dump our kicker, sign Ty Law, let the entire right side of the OL go, don't draft one Oline man and draft a kicker who was no better than the kicker we cut(Last year not forever).

If Jordan got the amount of carries in 04 that you thought he should have gotten Martin wouldn't have been the rushing champ and you could have made a real evaluation of Jordan vs. Martin. Instead the evaluation was Martin is the NFL rushing champion dump Jordan.

Yeah, that's right. Had that happened it would have been a different story.
Martin would be the backup or with another team by now (Colts, maybe?; maybe they don't draft Addai).

The Jets would have an above average starter in Jordan.

u guys miiiight be right about houston over blaylock but its MUCH to early to make that call...give it the rest of the preseason before that decision is made. both have potential to be good, but we have to see consistency out of one of them before we say they should be starting.

Blaylock is a third down RB.... I said it before tonight, now I repeat it. He can't run between the tackles AT ALL. That makes him a CoP RB. While Houston's numbers might not look good, he is the only RB on this team that might be a feature RB. He made yards when Blaylock would have lost yards. Why they didn't run him on that first and goal at the five was lousy play calling. He gets two or three yards EVERY time he runs, hole or no hole. I'm REALLY starting to hate that fade play.

Houston had better be this teams RB, barring a trade, or I'm gonna get pissed. Blaylock SUCKS. Washington is a better RB. This is the way Blaylock has played since he became a Jet. He's not going to get any better, while Houston will.

Lets no discount Houston that much. He ran pretty well last year behind a bad line that and a defense that knew they were going to run the ball. Yes he doesn't have game breaking speed. But if he can wear the defense down that is all that matters. Hopefully Washington can come on and be a good change of pace back. Why can't we find undrafted runners they way the bronco's do? Houston was very highly recruited before he went to Tenneese.

I know its the 1st game but I didnt like what I saw from the RB's tonight. If this doesnt improve I can understand why the front office wants to bring someone in. Blaylock looked bad

that was just the first preseason game against a team that won its division with a strong run defense. That was our first game with our O line playing as a team. I agree that Houston is the stronger runner especially because he breaks tackles better that Blaylock. I think that by the 4th preseason game, the O line will be more in sync, and the backs will be sharper.

Yeah, i noticed that too. When he got that toss that was a fake to BJ Askew for the firstdown, he was like jogging. Houston sould start, Houston put in the extra effort ad getting the 1 or 2 more yards after the hit instead of going down.

Unfortunately those solid runs were against the 2nd team Tampa defense so those runs don't mean much at all

I agree with the OP - Houston was significantly better than Blaylock. It was limited action but Blaylock looked terrible. Houston ran alot harder and was especially more decisive. He isn't the greatest but he definitely the best of what we got.

PS - the red zone play where Chad fumbled was clearly not Houston's fault. Adrian Jones goofed big time. He ignored the inside rush to pick up the edge guy. Chad still may have tacken a sack but if Jones makes the right block Chad at least has a moment to tuck and go down. Who knows maybe even Houston picks up the edge guy and Chad is able to get a quick pass off? Either way Jones shoulder's the blame for that play.

true Blaylock did not impress, and there really wasn't anything I could find positive in his running. But, it is one game.

I can see one of them being on the practice squad.
