I'm thinking the same thing. After three years where Ryan has been a glorified defensive coach how is he suddenly going to transform to a strict task master overnight.
I'm with you. Being a sports fan is a marathon not a sprint. Obviously no superbowl in 40+ years is tough but it's not like we have had zero success over that period of time...hell the last two years alone were pretty successful years. On paper if someone today said "northernjet, I can guarantee you that the Jets will make the AFC Championship for the next two years but it means they'll miss the playoffs the year after that. What they do in the AFC Championship game or how badly they miss the playoffs I can't control. What is your choice?" I would take that deal any day of the week.
I agree with you and when it hurts the PSL market WOODY is going to take action to clean it all up. Hello Mr. Polian, this is Woody......
No...Its Rex's mess also. Rex is looking at life thru rose-colored glassses. Tanny & Rex....shoulder all the blame. Bad personnel decisions & weak coaching. sum it up 4 me.
yeah but the HEAD COACH who is with those players everyday, in the locker and who's job it is to get his team together and performing on game day and in practice, he bares no responsibility right? man, rex's mouth has turned people stupid and fooled them into blaming everyone but him...
Great point...we really have had a ton of BS the last two years. Im happy with the success we have had, and I still think Rex can get us to where we need to be. But this needs to be a big time off season. We lost a lot of vets last year, IMO and no one seams to agree with me, Shaun Ellis was a massive mis-step by Tanny. I dont think anyone could see that Holmes was this immature even with some of the signs that we saw so I cant fault anyone for that. But I will fault them if they dont address it this off season. I dont know how you sign character, but they better find some somewhere. Guys that respect the concept of the team whether or not they are happy with their role game in game out.
Go on television, scream and holla, announce immediate firings and cuts. Of course, after that, the same folks who are begging for a strong reaction will come here and bitch about the panic moves, scapegoating, and lack of composure. It'll be a sign that Rex and Tanny have REALLY lost control. There's absolutely nothing the Jets can do right now to satisfy those people.
From everybody..the media, the owner, the fans...where have you heard once that he is being held accountable for anything he has done? Horrible draft picks, horribly contracts, horrible personnel decisions...he gets away with it all. They6 ask Ryan Monday who will be the starting QB next year and before he can answer Tannenbaum jumps in and says Sanchez..I'm not even sure Ryan is the coach except maybe during the game itself.
The key is this is the biggest dysfunction YOU'VE EVER SEEN. I'd bet there was just as much dysfunction in the locker room, if not more, when Favre was here. Possibly the same with the year Vinny went down and Parcells mailed it in. We just didn't hear about it. If the biggest dysfunction/collapse/meltdown in Jets history ends in an 8-8 record - if THAT's rock-bottom - I'd say we're in pretty good shape. One year does not make a trend.
