But then how asinine was it of the Jets to give him that big new contract, wherein we're stuck with him at least next year, too?
For a veteran, it's unbelievable how bad is attitude was today. I understand he's frustrated that he wasn't getting more looks, but he needed to be more composed. The team needed him, he came up small. He can't be let go because of his contract, but Rex has to let him know that he's no longer a captain and his spot for 2013 us tenous at best.
Manish Mehta @TheJetsStream 25m Holmes says Turner told him he was coming in. Holmes says he did not take himeself out: "I have no answer to that. It was the coach's call." Manish Mehta @TheJetsStream 24m Holmes on his feelings about Schottenheimer: "Right now, let's hope for the best." #nyj Manish Mehta @TheJetsStream 23m Asked whether he wants to return with Jets next season, Holmes doesn't answer. "Thank you, guys." And walks off. #nyj
Bullshit. I recorded the game, replayed it several times. It never showed him getting substituted. I know I only have a 50" TV, but I'm kinda sure that is big enough to see what is going on. When it came back from commercial he was already on the bench. Two plays later it showed what happened in the huddle with him going off on someone. Even then, never showed Turned tapping him on the shoulder. So I call complete bullshit on your statement. On a side note. It's amazing how much better the offense looked without Holmes on the field. Just saying..
The majority of the people here wanted Holmes. Its hard to blame Tanny for signing our more talented wr especially since Sanchez liked throwing to him last season. We need another wr badly though. Holmes is a good compliment he is not a star. Maybe this offseason he can get his head on straight and we can fix our offense.
We can't get rid of this fucker next season but I say we demote his ass to 3rd receiver or even worst and throw his ass on the trade block next year maybe some desperate team wants to pick up his contract up for us. Kerley was beast today anyway and he actually plays with some fucking heart.
Unfortunately, with the amount of money the Jets have tied up in Holmes, they are going to have to stroke his ego this offseason and try to get #1 receiver production out of him next year.
Santonio Holmes made the single most amazing Superbowl pay ever (alongside of David Tyree's velcro helmet catch) and then the Steelers let him go. There is a reason (or many) for that. Dude is a 'me' player, and this season confirms this strongly. Selfish fucking guy. Should have kept Edwards (despite injury).
Holmes is a talented player no doubt about it. The fact that he is a captain and refuses to buy into the system and lead by example is a good reason to consider cutting him. The team lacks descipline, there seems to be a loss of faith in the system. That simply can't be allowed. Either the coaching staff needs to be complety changed or players have to be cut.
