what is wrong w/ that play, if he doesn't get hurt he gets at least half the yards back making it a manageable 3rd down. I guess you prefer going downfield w/ an incomplete pass making it 3rd and 12, right?

yeah that would have been a gain of 8...Drew Brees had over 1000 yards of offense generated by dumping the ball off to running back last season

I say shut him down for the season either way - fuck it.

The Jets aren't going anywhere this season anyway. Give him the Donovan McNabb treatment. Put him on the IR so that jackass can save face and still be paid and in turn keeping his attitude far, far away from the facility.

Take your lumps because its a big drop off in talent at the WR position but allow the young guys to develop and see what we have in them. Evaluate the position at season's end.

If the guy is healthy he plays. He is the teams only legit wide receiver.

As far as not going anywhere let's see if we can beat Indy and Miami before the bye before we toss dirt on the team

I hope he is out for the year. Let the 4-12, 5-11 season so we can blow things up and rebuild and get a good draft pick. Going 8-8 and missing the playoffs by a game or two means NOTHING.

The problem with what you're saying is that they'll spend those draft choices on more D Linemen then Tanny will trade 5 picks to move up 10 spots to pick another defensive guy he could have gotten 3 rounds later by moving back in the draft and they'll claim that Vlad is looking great in OTA's, they love their receiver core, Shonn Greene has rededicated himself etc. and every other BS excuse imaginable to deflect attention from the fact that they yet again ignored the offense.

I agree with you only "IF" Tanny goes and they get a real GM to make those draft picks.

Everything is wrong with it..we have 2nd and 12, we are on their side of the field and we are down 17 points...what would you do next on third and 8, run it up the middle? The Jets would..or Sanchez would take a sack, throw a pick or have it tipped.

They will beat Indy and Miami either way they are rebuilding (the right way). But what does that matter? We saw what happened when they played playoff caliber teams in the Steelers and 49ers... embarrassment.

Anyone can see they are on the wrong track for rebuilding with aging/regressing top players, have just lost their best player for the season and appear to staring at a best case scenario of 8-8/9-7. What good is that? Beat the crappy teams, maybe upset one better team so Rex can gloat on that glimmer of hope and Tannenbaum doesn't have to worry about his job?

It's not really "tanking it" because Holmes is probably hurt at least some, but it is sacrificing the short-term for the long-term..Tell him to take the time to rest and get 100% and lets see what the young guys have to offer. Worst case scenario they have a higher draft pick next april and they have an excuse to dump some of these underperforming veterans...

Sadly I have the same outlook on the Jets. Hard to get excited about a draft pick when you know Tannenbaum will just F it up somehow.

My thoughts exactly. Step one in any rebuilding has to be to get rid of Tanny. Might as well get rid of Woody, too.

At 4-12, 5-11, I don't think there's a choice. Somebody, if not a bunch of people, would have to take the ax. Schottenheimer's gone. Next up? Tannenbaum.

The blame starts right there, there is an incredible lack of depth on this team at all the important positions, and you can't blame it all on the cap

There has been a consistent lack of depth on this team for years. It's how we run our organization. Look at teams like the Steelers and Pats...they continually invest in players to develop and dont reach and draft for current need. When teams do this they tak a huge risk (either boom or bust). The Jets have struck out more than they have hit Home Runs. The Steelers seem to always be drafting a LB when they have many quality ones on the roster.

I thought we had an identity (Run the ball with a big nasty o-line and 2-3 good backs, play intense intimidating pressure defense and limit the opponents posessions). Somwhere along the line we decided we needed to become the center of the media world and not the team in 09 that was disrespected. Now the Jets are a joke and the punchline. Get back to basics, reward true leaders on the team (T-rich, Woody, Shaun Ellis, LT, Jimmy) and not the self centered clowns like Holmes and the Tebows (basically a $ ploy as we have no intention of playing him on a regular basis). So tired of our FO's lack of vision, they cant see past their nose....

we would have had at least 6 yds making it a 3rd and manageable, there is absolutely nothing wrong w/ that play.
