One thing for sure, this situation is a fucking mess that needs to be cleaned up as soon as posible. I really like Tanny and Rex as a team, but they step into the shit big time putting the current team together.

One would have to assume that the person who signs the checks around Floral Park is not a happy camper, and if this mess is not corrected quickly, the Jets will be heading in a new direction in both the coaching and GM areas, as soon as next season is completed.....

This is just a quick timeline I threw together using Holmes' wiki page.
    • Holmes has acknowledged selling drugs on the street corner of his hometown of Belle Glade, Florida as a teenager; he says that his mother's influence and a desire to play professional football made him decide to stop.[13]
    • Holmes was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida on May 27, 2006 for disorderly conduct.[14] Charges were subsequently dropped after Holmes paid a fine.
    • Holmes was arrested for a second time on June 18, 2006 for domestic violence and assault in Columbus, Ohio.[15]
    • On July 7, 2006, Holmes appeared in Franklin County Court in Columbus, Ohio for both a pre-trial hearing regarding the domestic case and a hearing regarding the traffic ticket. He pled no contest to the traffic ticket and agreed to pay a fine. While Lashae Boone, the mother of Holmes' daughter and the victim in the assault case, requested that the domestic violence and assault charges be dropped, the prosecutor refused. Boone and their daughter accompanied Holmes to court. The charges were later dropped.[16]
    • On October 23, 2008, Holmes was arrested in Pittsburgh and cited by officers for possession of marijuana.[17][18] He released an apology after missing a game, stating that he wished to "focus all of [his] efforts on helping our team win on the field and achieve its ultimate goal."[19]
    • February 1st, 2009, In Super Bowl XLIII, Holmes secured the Steelers' NFL-record 6th Super Bowl win after catching a 6-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger with 35 seconds left in regulation. Holmes caught nine passes for 131 yards and a touchdown, including four receptions for 73 yards on their final game-winning drive. He was named Super Bowl MVP, becoming the sixth wide receiver to win the award, and also was the third Pittsburgh receiver to win the award, following Lynn Swann and Hines Ward.
    • On March 24, 2010, Anshonae Mills filed a lawsuit against Holmes over a March 7 incident in which she alleges Holmes threw a glass at her in an Orlando nightclub, resulting in a cut above her eye. Initially, Mills did not pursue charges, claiming Holmes and the police intimidated her into it, but the case has been reopened. Subsequently, after a Twitter comment criticizing the nightclub incident, Holmes told the follower to "kill urself." He later Tweeted it was time to "wake n bake," a reference to marijuana.[20] Holmes alleges his account was hacked and it was not him making the comments.[21]
    • On April 11, 2010, Holmes was traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.[7] (The Steelers eventually traded the pick to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a sixth round pick and reacquiring Bryant McFadden. The Cardinals used the pick on quarterback John Skelton.) Shortly before the trade, the NFL announced that Holmes would be suspended for the first four games of the season due to a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.[8][9]
    • On April 29, 2010, according to a report filed by authorities at Pittsburgh International Airport, a flight attendant told police that Holmes wouldn't turn off his iPod when requested and asked that officers speak to him. Holmes got off the Colgan Air flight and spoke to the officers, who reminded him to comply with regulations, but did not charge the wide receiver with anything. Holmes later talked to Jets head coach Rex Ryan about the incident.[22]
    • January 1, 2012, In the 4th quarter of the final game of the 2011 season vs. the Miami Dolphins, Santonio appeared to get into an argument with Jets offensive tackle Wayne Hunter in the huddle. Holmes was benched for the rest of the game, and the Jets ended up losing, which resulted in New York missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008. His leadership qualities and credibility as a captain have since been questioned. [1]
I agree, he's probably a good guy and just wants to win.

Funny thing is, that rap sheet is like a short story compared to the novel that Brandon Marshall has accumulated. But at least BM keeps it mostly off the field.

So, after the Pittsburgh debacle, people here were all up in arms because Revis wasn't getting in the front 7's face demanding they man up and make some tackles. How do we really know Holmes wasn't doing just that? He got in Hunter's face and Sanchez' face and told them to stop sucking dick? What a cancer.

Have you not read the stories about BS going on since week 4? About Holmes refusing to listen in meetings called by Sanchez?

I'm sure Holmes just means well and wants to win. He's a great guy.

Tone is a piece of trash, man. He even had Rex saying that making him a captain was a mistake. Rex, who will never throw anyone under the bus. Maybe he did try to lead, but punks are bad leaders.

I still maintain to this day, that Holmes was actually upset because Schotty was an ignoramus when it came to calling plays. Schotty was the one who determined how many looks Santonio got, and quite frankly it was embarassing, considering the amount of money we paid the guy. He proved himself last season, but I'm willing to bet he had more targets last year while playing 4 games less. Schotty is completely responsible for this, nobody else.

So, Holmes was exiled from Pittsburgh 'cause he was the ultimate team guy?

nope, he was exiled because that was at the same time that rapelisburger was accused and the steelers had to do something. release the franchise QB or a pretty good WR to save face? not even close.

as for his spat with sanchise... i'm hoping that they can put it behind them with the new offensive scheme.

The PR implications may have forced the Steelers to make a move, but the problem was rooted in Holmes' bad decisions and arrogant behavior.

You ever sit in on a meeting called by a grossly incompetent co-worker? After awhile, you start making paper airplanes.

Holmes may be a dick. He may be a malcontent. I don't know, and neither does any other of you sheep because you are not on the team. I do know he's one of the few players on the Jets with some modicum of above average talent. I'm sure Brendan Moore and Matt Slauson are stand up guys. Talent is what wins.

If Holmes is such a competitor and felt that Sanchez was incompetent, he had a perfect opportunity to go elsewhere instead of stay here and "make paper airplanes". He knew what he was getting into with Sanchez.

You'd have to be blind to look at his history and not see a selfish punk. Sometimes your reputation gets you in trouble even when you weren't to blame.

I'd be pissed too if I was the number 1 receiver on the team and never got the ball thrown towards me.

Sanchez homers will look for anyone else to blame. Its hilarious.

Yea Holmes shouldnt have acted in the manner he did, but its funny how you guys now believe all of the offense's problems were due to Holmes

Who is saying all the offenses problems are Holmes' fault? Show me one single post making that claim.

You don't explain why you say the bolded part. Pitt was worried that Holmes was one drug test away from being suspended for more than the four game suspension he was already facing, had decided to keep Ben despite his own off field problems, and made an example of Holmes. The Jets had no equivalent situation to the PR problems Pitt had with Ben, and felt it was worth taking a chance on Holmes's avoiding a bad drug test.

I blame Tanny for alot, and even for Holmes's contract. But for bringing him here? No, I don't blame Tanny for that. You are in effect saying everyone should have known Holmes was a lockerroom cancer. There is nothing to base that on.

    Are you blind?

Here's an easy, recent example that was on TV for everyone to see. Holmes scores a TD against the Eagles to pull the game within 3 scores then proceeds to put the ball on the ground, step on it and start flapping his wings to draw a 15 yard penalty.

That doesn't even go into his well documented legal past.
