He caught so many passes because we had to constantly feed his ego by throwing him the ball. Our offense is much more efficient without him.. sanchez looks better. The whole offense looks better without him .

Or the reason Sanchez tried to force passes to Holmes was because, Hill and Keller was hurt and Holmes was their bestn player on offense so he tried to get him the ball.

Outside of the Miami game last year Holmes has never been a problem.

    I agree with this.

Not saying Holmes sucks (just like Shockey and Tiki didn't suck)

I am just saying I believe every problem is an opportunity, and this is Mark's opportunity to be a leader and run the offense free and easy.

    Only time will tell

Hill wasn't hurt in the Steelers game but was only targeted twice. The Jets made a conscious effort to keep Holmes involved and unfortunately it was a detriment to the offense.

Holmes was absolutely a problem outside of LY's Dolphin game. He was calling out OL, not playing hard when he was sulking, and clearly was a lockerroom nightmare. I have much more respect for LaDanian Tomlinson who clearly has disdain for Holmes. I wonder why he would?!?!?

Kerley is not a better WR than Holmes, that is just ridiculous. But, if the team wants to get rid of him to get rid of the bad vibes, that is fine with me. He won't be cut due to his so called lack of talent. Perhaps what we get back for him, pieces can be used to grab McFadden? Lets be honest, Shonn Greene is not the future back of this team.

We still haven't gotten a chance to see our first team offense on the field together. Sanchez, Holmes, Hill, Kerley, Keller. IMO That is a really good group. Perhaps we will never see it.

Holmes is a huge problem. Why steelers let him go.. He has all the talent but is a cancer. The idea that the dolphin game was the first time he was a dick is absurd. It was the first time we all got to realize what a dick he was.

We can dump Holmes and his $9 mil (non-guaranteed) salary at the end of this season.

He is talented but just not what we need right now.

why does this kind of blatant misinformation get repeated here over and over? Pitt moved Holmes because he had off the field issues at the same time that Ben R was accused of raping someone. They did not want to move Ben, so they moved Holmes. There is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that Holmes was a locker room problem in Pitt. None.

How does this crap get repeated over and over?

Anyway, Holmes is not going anywhere. Find something else to complain about.

Are u serious?? So former players are lying? He was such a great guy pitt let him go for nothing but a weed charge? Do u watch interview he gives? After week 1 I watched and new he was going to be salty because he didn't get a td. He was obnoxious and bitch like during that interview. There is plenty of evidence that suggests he's an asshole. No I don't know personally. Lol I find it hard pressed to find many people who don't assume he's a problem from what other players have said and his retard beahvior during interviews.

You're mixing his time here with back then. Post one link showing he was a cancer in Pitt or STFU.

Ftr I would be in a foul mood if my Qb was Mark Sanchez, so I can understand him being a bit testy, that and that the NY media baits him and you haters slop that crap up.

Hill got hurt in that game. And how is getting your best player on offense involved "a detriment"? That doesn't make sense. I was upset because he did drop a few passes that he should have caught. Then the next week at Miami he played really well.

If Holmes is this big "locker room cancer" like you claim then name another incident outside of the events of late last season.

    Holmes is talented. No doubt.

My take is this...the longer he is injured the more Mark has time to assert his leadership. The more chemistry he builds with Kerley and Hill (he already has it with Keller) the less he NEEDS Holmes. And believe me when I tell you, Holmes sees it. The greatest fear of a player is losing his job to injury because it's beyond his control. The more success the team has, at that position, while he is away will dictate his attitude upon return. And more importantly how Sanchez "handles" him when he gets back.

Due to the contract, unless a team pulls a "Raiders" he's not going anywhere. But, how he is handled/treated when he gets back, dependent upon the team's success, is the key. If the team is successful, at that position, while he is gone he has no platform to "whine" and be a pain. Time will tell...but, as many of you have said, the offense is operating far more efficiently and fluid in his absence.

Maybe your delusisonal or your man love for holmes is that strong. You must be right, he's the ultimate team guy, and someone to build around. Not sure what I was thinking. Thankyou for correcting my misguided delusional thoughts on what an asshole santonio holes is. Crazy me

He played poorly against the Eagles. But why you bring up the Packers game?

i think the jets either need to approach Holmes for a restructure under the understanding of a new role or find some way some how to move him.

lol at feeding Holmes' ego. Where does this talk come from? What, Holmes complained once at the end of last season and it means he's selfish and always wants the ball. You people are simply insane. BTW it makes sense to give your #1 WR with big money contract the most targets. Schotty was a moron, but some people in this thread make me wanna face palm. Holmes is a winner.

We really don't know what we do know is the offense is starting to click and Kerley,Hill and Keller are pretty good. LTs assessment is pretty damning and Mark has played better without him in the line-up.

What we do know is that Chaz Shilens has shown nothing so far and Holmes is a very talented player. Kerley, Keller,Hill and Holmes creates a lot of nightmare matchups.

We will find out soon enough if the coaching staff thinks he is a cancer he will not be back.

It's a detriment because it was forced. Kind of like how the Vikings offense took a downward turn when they tried to force the ball to Randy Moss in 2005. Sanchez and the offense look a lot better without Holmes.

If you can't see that he was a major locker room cancer last year then you are being delusional. Players like LT don't call out other players the way he called out Holmes for nothing. Use your noodle. Read between the lines. It's extremely obvious.
