I dont know about some of you guys but I thoroughly got caught up in the 1st chater of this dvd ..... the history the transformation over the years... very dramatic with a lot of good memories....
I got it on Sunday. I watched the first disk Sunday night. The 2nd one last night. Now I am ready for the season.
For me, it is worth it just for the 1968 Jets highlight film itself. To buy the 1968 Jets film from NFL Films would cost $50. So for $30 less you get it but also with a whole bunch of other stuff. My father recorded the 1968 Jets highlight film off ESPN in 1985. One or two minutes of the film was cut so ESPN could fit it commercials during a 30-minute time slot. Now I finally have the full film!
I had actually never seen it before today. Paying $50 for NFL Films is ridiculous - except for the Game of the Week films they have (such as the 1968 AFL Championship)
I agree that the price tag is outrageous, but you have to admit that most of what they produced from the late 1960s through the mid 1980s was fantabulous stuff. Here is the link to their special order catalog- http://www.nflfilms.com/specialorders/ My #2 all-time favorite NFL Films documentary is "NFL '68." I don't believe that film is available through the special order catalog. However, it can be found in the Super Bowls 1-10 DVD set, which you can find in stores. "NFL '68" was quite different than any other work. It contained a few strange lines such as "...like a girl unexpectedly pregnant..." and the footage and editing was excellent. My #1 is: That film is absolutely tremendous. In my opinion, it is worth $50. It cannot be found in the Super Bowl DVD set. Instead of "Saviors, Saints and Sinners" you get a much crappier film of the 1980 season. It contains basically the same footage but put to significantly worse music. I have no idea why there were two films. Obviously, "Saviors, Saints and Sinners" was the spruced-up version, but the other one is so awful I don't know how it made its way to the public. You get extensive footage of the Cowboys-Eagles Championship Game and a soundbite of Dick Vermeil. "If the Cowboys are going to take us for granted, we'll whip their ass." The Billy Sims, Bills-Patriots, and Chargers "chapters" are brilliant.
I love the pre-Super Bowl era Championship Game Videos they have. Some of them are silent. Very awesome and definitely worth the money.
I did have the Bears-Giants 1963 film on tape and it was good. I also had some other interesting stuff on the same tape such as the 1970 Raiders, 1965 Packers, and 1973 Bills. Unfortunately, a VCR ate the tape.
I ordered mine last week off the jets site havent gotten it yet. cant wait to re visit those kottie years.
They really do not go over the kotite years... They just show a picture of him and then say after a few lean years the jets hire Bill Parcells.
I remember the Jets with what little time they had getting the ball to about the 35 giving them a decent hail mary chance. Only problem was Boomer's throw sailing out of the EZ with room to spare. Mitchell was in the EZ though......
i was just joking about the kotite era. lol but i cant wait to receive my dvd still waiting ordered it last week.
I just finished watching the actual film. It was great, I really enjoyed it. I am going to start watching the bonus features soon. I seriously think they should of put that documentary in theaters. I would of went to see it.
I just got my copy, I'm going to wait until I have enough time to watch all of it. BTW the box lies, it says 6 hours but it's 19 minutes short, they should give me the yearbooks of the Jets playoff teams for free.
finally got it yesterday. no mention of the first ever MNF game i know we lost but thats NFL and JETS history.
