Sometimes fringe players make the best coaches. Dude's very intelligent, so who knows, maybe he'll end up becoming a good coach?

I'm rooting for him. Never hated the guy, he was a Jet after all.

I guess u also never knew that the word knew is spelled with a k at the beginning. :)

I'm just being a dick head bro, nothing personal. Please feel free to go back at me over my use of "u" instead of "you" it's all meant to be tongue in cheek.

As for Sparano having a kid... What can you say, some broads love the sunglasses look...

Tony Sparano may have been an AWFUL offensive coordinator and a bad head coach. He wasn't cut out for either.

But was he a bad coach overall? Did he not know football? I'm pretty sure he lived a football life, meaning his kid probably lived a football life, meaning MAYBE the kid has the genes and the life experience to be a pretty decent coach.

Maybe he got the best parts of his Dad AND learned from his mistakes and will be a great coach.

    Or not.

Just not sure you need to kick him to the curb because of the sins of the father.

It's odd people think you have to be a good player in order to be a good coach. Eric Smith is incredibly smart.

As far as I know Belichick was never really a good player.

While what you say may be true, it creates an awkward situation. It's also not like there aren't any other qualified coaches out there the Jets could hire to replace him. I don't understand why he would want to work for the Jets after they fired his father. If he's as qualified as you say, he could have probably found a job with another NFL team pretty easily.

Yet he stayed, and apparently they wanted him to stay.

It's only awkward for those not inside the building--it may be completely comfortable for him.

None of us may be able to understand it, but the only ones it matters that they understand it is the individual and the team.

And maybe he's the most qualified young coach they've found, or maybe they really liked what he brought to the table.

We have no idea what terms Sparano left on--he may be on GREAT terms with the Jets and may have advised his son to stay. Rex may have taken him under his wing. The kid may love it there.

All speculation but one thing is not.

He's there when outward appearances suggest he shouldn't and therefore one would have to assume outward appearances don't hold up here.

What exactly does a seasonal intern do? Hopefully it doesn't involve playing safety! I can imagine Allen yelling at Smith to fetch him a Gatorade.

I just hope if B Shottenheimer has a son the Jets don't employ him...
