On Kazmir...it's not the point that Kaz wont or isnt a star. It's the fact that at the time, we have gotten a ton more for him. Someone that was still on the team. or at least was good when they were on the team
I'll never forgive that bastard for the kazmir trade, if it's true that the impetus for the trade was him saying he could turn zambrano into a great pitcher. steve phillips? he was fired before those awful trades. I believe Duquette was the GM when that awful day occurred.
Sparky Lyle for Danny Cater Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson Randy Johnson for Freddy Garcia, Carlos Guillen & John Halama
It was Duquette's job not Peterson's to get good value to get Zambrano here, Duquette was the moron who blinked at TB's 1st offer
did you hear about tampa bay's reaction? normally Chuck LaMar was known for demanding way too much in trades so they weren't able to swing many deals. LaMar was friggin' excited by this deal. Even he knew that this one was a giant heist.
ok, peterson might not have been the one to say to trade kazmir (I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he did, though, because he was known not to like kazmir), but he was still the one who wanted that piece of injured crap zambrano.
Wanting that POS Zambrano is one thing, for instance trading a much lesser package away for Zambrano, but the incompetence of trading your best pitching prospect the blame goes all the way up to the top
Peterson fixed Perez, Maine and Sosa. You want somebody who is right 100% of the time? Is that really reasonable? If you roll the dice on re-cycled pitchers, its impossible to be right all the time. AND its not like Kazmir is an ace. We got damaged goods with Zambrano. It happens.
It's kind of odd but Jermaine Dye has been traded for garbage on 3 seperate occasions 1st time Braves to Royals for Michael Tucker and Keith Lockhart 2nd time From Royals to Rockies for Neifi Perez Same day From Rockies to A's for Jose Ortiz, Mario Encarnacion and Todd Belitz Eric Milton; traded by Twins to Phillies for Carlos Silva, Nick Punto and Bobby Korecky Heres a Mets one that seems to go unoticed Kevin Tapani (who won the rookie of the year after being traded) Rick Aguliera, Tim Drummond, David West and Jack Savage for Frank Viola
CJ Henry and Hector Made for Bobby Abreu. Roberto Kelly for Paul O'Neill Russ Davis and Sterling Hitchcock for Jeff Nelson, Tino Martinez, and Jim Mecir Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson
Brad Wilkerson, Termel Sledge, and PTBNL for Soriano Even they they had him for one year, and were left empty handed, he was a 40/40 player for the Nats and probably filled up some seats
Rick Wise for Steve Carlton Amos Rusie for Christy Mathewson Milt Pappas for Frank Robinson Ernie Broglio for Lou Brock Jim Fregosi for Nolan Ryan These are arguably the five worst trades in MLB history. The Smoltz trade looks bad today. However, Alexander did help get the Tigers into the playoffs in 1987.
