The PSLs take care of that for the most part. There are enough of those sold that the stadium is inherently half or more sold no matter what, and the other teams fans take care of a lot of the rest.

What it was all about was keeping the Jets in the news, probably even a little bit of trying to get them on prime time again after years without it, and selling more merchandise.

I don't think Rick Kotite actually coached. He just stood there looking depressed and confused as the Jets kind of wandered around on the field like the zombies in the Monroeville Mall in 'Dawn of the Dead'. o_O

I remember when Kyle Brady got his first touchdown! I was there! And drunk! But not drunk enough!

I don't really think the PSLs take care of the bulk of tickets. That may have been the original plan but it failed miserably. I couldn't come up with figures of how many PSLs were sold by the twenty or so NFL teams that have required them. What I do know is that the sales, in only the 100 and 200 sections were only partially successful and within a few years remaining seats on those tiers were available without PSLs or at heavily discounted rates. Numerous articles report tens of thousands of PSLs are available for resales on sites dedicated to such things. Based on nothing in particular, my guess would be that fewer than half the seats in the stadium are currently controlled by PSLs. Many of those visiting fans you see in the lower bowl are sitting in seats that the PSL owners put up on Stub Hub and the like to offset their costs rather than lose the PSLs because they're waiting for the Jets to become competitive. As long as my email contains Groupon listings of Jets tickets I believe the team is still looking to sell seats individually.

Did you see Rodgers on Sunday? The cameras cut to him a lot and every single time he was shaking his head.

The entire upper level is not PSLs and many of those are season ticket holders simply for that reason. A pretty fair amount of the seats in the lower level are PSLs, and I know almost all of the ones on the second level in the end zones are as well. That's where mine were.

Using the assumption that most people wouldn't just walk away and abandon the PSLs for financial reasons, they have to still be sold even if they aren't used - having a PSL means there's a gun to your head to purchase the season tickets every season. I'm sure some PSLs were sold to others, some were simply abandoned, but most are either used or sold on an individual basis (as you stated).

I just don't think filling seats was the primary motivation - a secondary one for certain, but I think it was about relevance and the spotlight. And of course to win - but only because winning would affect the bottom line, not because of any passion for winning.

Let's be clear - I think selling the seats is much more important than having them occupied. Why would Elhai or Woody care if the seats are ten bucks on Stub Hub if he already got his $150 - $800 for it? The guy taking the hit may very well be the guy who laid out the bucks for the PSL and is still paying it off and paying higher prices for the tickets too.

I'm curious... and I don't know how to find it easily...

But is there a team with a w/l record like ours that still has the same GM & HC running things?

Douglas is in rarefied air with his W/L record without making the playoffs. I’m sure Saleh is right there as well in regards to record without playoffs as well.

Posted this back on November 29th

What GM has the most losses before making the playoffs or getting fired?

Joe Douglas is currently at 77 games.

    Bruce Allen - Washington Redskins
    • 2010 + 2011 (11-21 record)
    • 2013-2019 - 5 seasons (24-56 record [80 games]
    • playoffs in 2012 at 10-6
    • overall tenure 45-83
    Jason Licht - Tampa Bay
    • 2014-2019 (before Brady entered in 2020 for playoff run)
    • 34-62 (96 games)
    Matt Millen - Detroit Lions
    • 2003 - 2008
    • 26-57 (fired after week 3 in 08)
    • 83 games

These are the most recent ones that came to mind, but there are way worse GMs that went longer without playoffs depending how far back we want to go. Bengals owner/GM Mike Brown, went 89-153 which is probably the worst of all time. Some guy from the 50s is also over 200 games.

Douglas is actually eerily similar to Licht in Tampa. Neither could figure out the QB position, but both have assembled some other talent (especially on defense). HOF QB finally got him over the top (obviously the difference is Brady injury vs Rodgers) and now post Brady Licht is back to looking somewhat mid tier.

I didn't say anything to the opposite. I agree completely. The original point was that the whole Rodgers gambit was done to sell seats, and I'm saying that's not necessarily the case because most were sold anyway.

I guess I should have clarified that I meant selling season tickets, not individual or small packages. Those spot sales might very well dry up if the misery continues.

I think you missed that the OP was the one that attack the Jets fans and “ homers” on the TGG. Well all frustrated. We all have our beef about the Jets moves, transactions, plays etc. they are the ones that perform, not the fans. The Front office are the ones that make the moves or decisions. But yet calling out Jet fans for being wrong? We re just fans that have no impact in the FO’s decision. I just think it’s odd calling out TGG folks where we all want success. If attacking Homers and TGG folks pointing out where they are wrong is your thing, have at it if that makes you feel good.

I didn't "attack" anybody and for the record, HOMERS are a subdivision of Jet fans just like the rest of us. I called folks out who incessantly come up with excuses why things are the way they are and hold no one accountable ever. Have enough courage to show up with shit goes south which they never seem to do but if Zach makes one decent pass, here they come with Saleh leading the charge. If they're gonna only show up when things are good, or come with bullshit excuses why things are better than they look, yeah, I'm gonna call that shit out. Like I said, Darksiders show up win or lose. We cheer and we vent but one thing we are not is inconsistent.

I didn't miss anything. His frustration is aimed at people who spent the last two weeks torturing the realists with their pom-pom waving bullshit and I told you sos but suddenly are nowhere to be found. Based on the time you've been here in the amount of posts you've made, this can't be a foreign concept to you, Jets fans have been having this argument for decades.

And most of all - this is a FAN discussion board. What did you expect to find on here? The model UN?

Not for nothing Cman, but despite my continued (up until now) support of Zach, I've shown up, even when I was being served a plateful of shit from "those that know better". I've been clear eyed about my support of this team all through the years. And while I have defended Zach - at the same time noting that he has responsibility for his problems too - I've placed most of the blame on this shit show of a franchise that can't seem to figure out the basic things to create a winning team. Zach ain't nearly the biggest problem on this team. Just look at the last few games. If you can't see that, IDK what to tell you. But if you want to keep blaming Zach for it all, go ahead.

As for "where are the homers?" shit, when you're serving shit for dinner, don't expect me to come running when you ring the dinner bell.

Fair points, but I will defend my man Cman by stating that Zach is just the current lightning rod, this permeates throughout the fan base on many levels and has for many years before Zach Wilson was even at BYU, much less on this team. Probably before he was in diapers.

Regardless of what's on the menu, maybe the next time you pull up a chair you'll at least agree not to call anyone a hater just because they disagree with you.

OMG...I remember when Millen drafted, what, his THIRD wide receiver in as many years! People in Detroit lost their fuckin' shit man! I guess, at least for now, JD isn't being mocked by the entire NFL... I remember when every talking head on every channel was actually laughing at Millen! HAD to be a hard fall for him considering he was a borderline HoF player! You KNOW you suck ass when Barry Sanders retires, at the TOP of his game, without even a whisper as to why. I'll tell you why, because he was getting his head kicked in on teams that blew monkey butt!

J.D. is NOT far behind only his will be DT's instead of WR's...

Good points but you could have left off Barry, they missed each other by 2 seasons.
