Oh okay! Thanks for the explanation. I figured it was just a NY/NJ thing for whatever reason. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the conversation....Later!
I agree. Schaub couldn't even hold Vick's jock strap. I betcha people who prefer him do so only because of his skin color. I'm serious. You'd have to be racist to say Schaub is better than Vick.
Thanks As I said earlier, this stuff shows my age. But its good NY sports history and I am not sure some of the younger members may know this otherwise useless trivia!
Produce something that proves it. I mean, I could be wrong, but I own a Mets media guide and I think legally it is not Metropolitans. Whoever came up with the name obviously meant "Mets" as a shortened form of "Metropolitans" but "Metropolitans" was never the technical, legal name. I'd go upstairs and look at the media guide for myself, but I just went downstairs and went online. I'm too lazy to do the work right now.
That board is a total disaster. The signatures are huge. One dude has massive images of strippers in his signature.
Here's the proof. A history lesson for Met Fans. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/nym/history/timeline1.jsp
Culpepper had a total disaster of a contract, and he had had an extremely serious knee injury. Plus, he was coming off an AWFUL 2005 season. You better believe Abraham is worth more than Mr. Fumblepepper.
That contract was based on his ability to get tickets sold, not his football ability. Moronic moves like that are the reason Atlanta won't be winning it all anytime soon.
I suppose neither of us are wrong. The team nickname was never "Metropolitans." It was always "Mets." However, it was used as the corporate name. That's quite different from the Trail Blazers-Blazers, SuperSonics-Sonics, 76ers-Sixers, Knickerbockers-Knicks, Athletics-A's name scenarios.
 :breakdance: You act like he deserved to go to any of the Pro Bowls he was voted in for. Significantly higher completion percentage than what? A 3-toed sloth?
That is the result of a deal made with the Devil in order for the city to be awarded an expansion team in 1965.
