I really thought the Phins would be a strong contender coming into this season, but I never saw the complete lack of offense coming. I put a lot of the blame on Henne. From the games I've watched he looks a bit lost at times and does not seem to having the offense backing him as thier guy. Ricky and Ronnie are bboth nearing the end and depending on which way the phins go in round one may not be back. The Defense is ligit though, even with a bundle of injuries. How's that Drew Brees signing looking now. Orton, if available, is a short term fix and would work well if the draft a Project QB and in this draft out side of Luck I don't see anyone being a first day starter. Fix the QB and you fix alot of thier problems.
Kevin Kolb might be a good option for the Phins. Send Henne over do be their backup plus a late round pick.
If you think Henne and a late rounder lands Kolb, your nuts. A young QB with some NFL experince that has shown promise in limited viewing. I'm thinking a 2nd at worst. Matt Schaub got 2 2nd rounders with a similar resume. Kolb will not come cheaply.
The Falcons held on to him for awhile after he had shown some ability in limited duty if I remember correctly. Also, didn't the Eagles give Kolb a pretty good contract before this season? Teams will know that the Eagles will need to trade Kolb eventually and that should probably bring down the price they can ask for him.
The Falcons had Schaub for 3 seasons. He started two games and none of them in his final seaosn 2006. Season Team G GS Comp Att Pct. Yds Avg TD Int Rate 2004 Falcons 6 1 33 70 47.1 330 4.7 1 4 42.0 2005 Falcons 16 1 33 64 51.6 495 7.7 4 0 98.1 2006 Falcons 16 0 18 27 66.7 208 7.7 1 2 71.2 Not amazing numbers to be sure, but in the games he looked good and a times very good. Its a similar situation. The Eagles extended Kolb, but this will not drive the price down too much. If all it took was a shitty QB and a late rounder teams like the Seahawks, Bills, Raiders, Vikings, Titans, Jags, Bengals, Broncos, and Cardnials would be in play. Thats 9 teams that could be looking for a QB in the offseason and the Phins are not on the list. This will be a sellers market.
Its sounding like we might keep Morono/Henning/Henne/Ireland... oh good god, this franchise is a freaking joke.
WEll, if Henning and Sparano are retained, Henne may be as well. If thye are canned I would assume he will be as good as gone.
The offensive failure is 40% Henne being an average QB and 60% the inability of the coaching staff to develop a gameplan to suit his strengths. It is maddening being a Phins fan and watching us march down the field and then have the OC call a wildcat on 3rd and 6. Or a play action on 3rd and 9(which happens a minimum of 5 times a game) Clearly Dan Henning+Chad Pennington was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately Henne's decision making is not his strength. He has a big arm and we rarely ever ran more than 1 WR on a deep route
fuck fuck fuck fuck bleeping parcells convinced ross (owner) to keep morono for another year... fuck that shit. At least i'll save $6400 bucks from not renewing my season tickets.
Look on the bright side, at least you still have a head coach who's REALLY enthusiastic about kicking field goals.
At least we might see less Trollphins on here in the summer telling us how they're going to win the AFC East next season. Oh no wait, as per usual they'll have forgotten about this season by the time March Madness is over won't they?
Because Jets fans would never proclaim the division theirs... Remind me how many times it has actually happened. LOL I mean who gives a shit about fans...The players of the Jets told us they were winning the super bowl(not happening)
I may be in the minority, but I think Sparano deserves another year, and it is Henning that has to go. Maybe Norv Turner is available. I don't see Josh McDaniels coming to Miami, but who knows. Keep onto Henne. I am as disappointed as anyone in him, but Drew Brees and Phil Simms somewhat struggled for a while as they began their careers over the first few seasons. Not saying Henne is like them, but I think it's a little early to toss him aside. With that being said, I think we will bring in another guy to compete with Henne and Thigpen, whether that be a Donovan McNabb type or another free agent. I don't think this regime has enough time to wait to develop another QB.
Sparano is ok, but he did screw up the o-line this year. Henning blows. Sparano backing Henning kind of irritated me
me too, but what else can he do at this point? It's like last year before we got Marshall when he said he was thinks the current wr group (with ted ginn, mind you) was plenty good enough to get the job done
those offseason oline tinkers were so odd to me..i really did not understand it. ive only seen about 6 dolphins games this year, but it looked like a constant struggle to rush the ball every game.
yeah i agree here man. If i remember correctly, we started a different group every preseason game. I would've liked to have kept Jake Grove, but i understood the move. Long and Carey are great, but everything between them is still a question mark.
