Herm probably has a very bright future in TV. I doubt he ever coaches again.

He was here when we had a dynatsy team in our division and conference, as we have seen the past few years 9-7 and 10-6 can get you to a Super Bowl but not in those years when we had dominat teams in the AFC and he still had tons of success. The clock mgmt was overblown, watch games and you'lls ee many HCs making similar mistakes- it happens. The bottom line is he won enough to get us to 3 postseasons and 2 of them we were a game away from the title game.

Don't worry. With Herm on board, ESPN will be heading into a rebuilding mode soon. ESPN will probably have to get rid of old overpaid vets like Jaworski and Berman. The station's ratings will crater, but all of the young, new on-air talent will play hard with Herm in the mix.

"Its simple...for the Cardinals to win, they need to play to win the game...Gugh Come on now, teams that play hard to win, win!...Its simple football methodology. Winning is easy as 1-2-3 if you play to win this game. I know what it was like to play to win. WIN WIN WIN! WIN WIN WIN"

I'm actually really interested to see how he does with this. It suits him in the sense that he speaks extremely well, nobody ever questioned his ability to communicate. But I always felt that even though we knew he played to win the game, I was never too sure how he thought you could achieve that. He was all about ball security, played soft defense, and was loyal to veteran players to a fault, keeping younger better guys on the bench (who remembers Marvin Jones and James Darling?). All of these tend to be the opposite of views you see with many analysts, who generally think everybody who didn't win a game wasn't aggressive enough.

Altogether though, if hes the replacement for Emmitt Smith, its a huge, HUGE upgrade to the show, because Edwards can at least speak. But what exactly he's going to have to say will be interesting to see, as I never really knew the extent of his knowledge of Xs and Os (as compared to Mangini, who apparently didn't communicate too well with his team, but was always willing to get in front of the mic and talk football).

It's easy to remember why I can't stand the guy. Everytime he opens his mouth I want to close it for him.

""I'm excited about the opportunity to join the ESPN team and offer my insight as a former player and head coach. I'm going to be truthful with my opinions on all the issues that take place on and off the field of play," Edwards said in a statement."

But they will go to commercial ten seconds too early. Afterwards, Herm will say "Yeah, we messed that up. We did. Sometimes you mess things up, that's what happens in football."

So it's ok to bash Herm all the time but it's not ok to back him? I will always defend the truth and the facts back me up on this argument. I hope you have enjoyed missing the postseason the last 2 years. Crazy me, I actually enjoyed going to the postseason and never missing 2 in a row.

Herm will have trouble reading the "it's 15 seconds til commercial" signs.

It'll be interesting to see him opine on strategy, etc. I have a hard time picturing him being openly critical of another coach. I bet he's going to be pretty boring.
