My sense is that they will. I was watching a clip from an ESPN interview with Dick Vermeil, in which TE Tony Gonzalez was shown and seemed to intimate there were members of the Chiefs who were not giving their all on the field, and taking Vermeil's player-friendly style as a form of weakness to take advantage of. Vermeil basically confirmed that situation existed among some players, which I read to be a polite way of saying "many players", and added it was a reason why it made sense for him to leave. They need someone new there, who isn't going to put up with that nonsense just because the players doing it are veterans. Someone, he said, like Herm Edwards... I regret to say I wasn't able to hear the rest of the interview, as my fit of hysteria rendered me barely able to breathe for the next five minutes. Herm's main weakness, apart from game management, is veteran discipline.
Oh man, it was hilarious not only hearing the Jets fans boo Herm, but hearing Jackson cracking up as well. That was classic.
I was so drunk and my draft party was in high gear when he came on and all I can remember is yelling at the screen "FU HERM" from the time he came on until he left. Everyone at the party was on the floor rolling in laughter.
I was at the draft and wasnt' sure why people were booing at first, but once I saw that ugly mug on the big screen I joined in right away. He'll go to the playoffs with his veteran team for a few years, and right when the team is about to implode like the Jets did, he'll take off for a new town.
The look on Herm's face for the first two seconds was priceless. Then he recovered and aquitted himself quite well in the interview. For the record I like Herm and would have supported him staying sans Bradway if that's how it turned out.
All I can say is wait till 07' when we play the Chiefs. All I want is for us to be up by 21pts in the 4th quater and see a close up of Herm's face as his team is getting smacked around!
