Strongly suggest you stop with the “dumbass” and other personal attacks

when you have to resort to name calling you clearly have no argument

With reports that the Wentz-Eagles marriage is on the rocks:

    https://nypost.com/2020/12/20/carson-wentz-wants-out-if-hes-not-eagles-starting-qb/

and the price that Philly will pay to end it (even if they can somehow find someone willing to take him off their hands), it really underscores the titanic stakes involved in finding a FQB. Given those stakes, it surprises me that teams don't seem to really know what to look for in finding a "can't miss" prospect. Sure, it's impossible to read the future, and there really is no such thing as "can't miss" because of all the variables that change between the college and the pros. Still, it just seems that there should be a way to better identify QBs who have a high probability of success and those who don't.

Given the struggles of Wentz and even Goff, it might make teams question the wisdom of taking a QB that hasn't faced really tough competition. Personally I don't think that's necessarily a "must have", but I do believe it helps when a QB succeeds against stronger teams. OTOH, teams that play in a strong division, usually have a lot of talent on their own team and so it blurs the ability to separate how good the QB is from how much his success is due to the coaching and talent around him.

Again, I believe there are basic traits that all great QBs share, independent of who they play for and against. My basic 'ingredients' include"

    1. Strong, accurate, arm.
    2. Great understanding of the game that's innate not necessarily learned, more like a 6th sense.
    3. 'Never say die' attitude.

If a QB has these, I believe he'll succeed no matter what. They can mobile, or not very mobile; tall or short; left handed or right handed; play for a big school or a little school; but if they have those three key ingredients they'll succeed.

And since I created this thread.....Goff is done, Wentz is almost cooked, Trubisky is on life-support.

With all these reversals to the downside, why do I think that seeing Sam reverse to the UPSIDE is not shocking ?

Imaging telling a Rams or Eagles fan after their SB runs that Goff and Wentz were basket cases and/or finished. You would have been called a troll.

Yeah, but teams aren't allowed to play defense like that any more - haven't been since the 90s - which is why the whole "Defense wins championships" meme is so wrong for today's game.

It all comes down to having a competent GM the Jets had No QB when Watson and Mahomes were available Watson even loved the idea of being drafted by the Jets but Mac took a box safety and passed on both QBs because of his love fest with Darnold and the fact he didn't want to admit he screwed up taking Hackenburg. Douglas I hope is a competent GM and doesn't sell the house to get Watson instead he be better off taking Wilson or Field or find a alternative the Stafford Trade just made Watson to costly.

I agree that it should help the Jets with trading Sam, and that it IS very difficult to find a true FQB. That is why trading for Watson is a no-brainer. He IS a FQB. Anything else, including Lawrence, is a crap shoot.
