Why are Ryan Meyers and Wallace Wright still on the team? Anyone? We should have kept one of the OL guys, we need depth there. I dont see the fuss about McClover tho. A 220 pound linebacker? As good as he is on special teams he has to contribute SOMETHING to his actual position to warrant a spot.

BTW did Fred Matua really get cut as mentioned above? If so we should be all over him. I'd take a flyer on Tyrone Calico too.

Wallace wright is going to the Practice Squad and Myers will only play special teams if he is lucky, unless someone gets injured.

Wright is on the 53.. He's not going to the practice squad unless he's cut first. That's how the practice squad works.

So you are saying that its impossible that Wallace Wright will get cut, when some OL ot TE becomes available? Thats how GM's work.

Nope.. but he's not moving right to the PS. . and if he gets cut, if he's claimed by someone else, then they get him.

  6. If Matua got cut after being a 2nd round pick for a team w/ an OL as bad as Zona's is...there must be a major character or injury issue. I'm not sure we should go after him..

    I would have kept both.

Also, we cut too many offensive linemen. I hope we pick up a couple soon.

Woah. Here's something I caught: On the Jets website, Sean Ryan is listed as a Tackle/Guard and if that's true, there are only 1 1/2 TEs on the roster, Chris Baker and James Dearth. If it's not, than there are only 2 Guards.

The Jets are gonna do a million things in the next two days. Lots of pickups and probably a trade.

Congratulations Wallace Wright. I think there's about a 10% chance he starts opening day still as a member of the 53 man roster, but he made it this far, and he played well in the preseason, so congrats to him.

We kept six last year.... but it was 3 FB's and 3 RB's. I said earlier... forget what thread... that we would keep six, but what would the mix be? 4 RB's and 2 FB's, or 3 and 3? I said that J Martin, Askew and Tutt were all as likely to get cut as Houston was. Not bad for guessing. Turns out it's a 4-2 mix, and I was very happy about that. I would have prefered Tutt over Askew though. Martin is a big fat overwieght bowling ball.... but maybe he's the lead blocker we havent had in .... forever.

During the last preseason game broadcast, Tannenbaum spilled the beans. He said they would make room on the roster for released FA's. Well, they have. I thought Blanton would stick.... Kurt, that was a surprise, no? I hope he goes to the PS.

Didn't even realize Wright made the team, I'm surprised he made it over Newhouse or Ridgeway even if we were going to take 6 WRs, but if the coaching staff feels he deserves it so do I, so congrats to him.

I still would've liked to keep McClover over him, McClover was great on ST which is where Wright will likely play if he remains on the roster, and it will be hard to be as good as Darrell was.

  13. He def. made alot of strides from TC to the preseason games. Early in TC I thought he had slow feet and took poor angles. But during the preseason games, he was most likely the best 2nd string OL we had. I'm willing to bet if he passes through waivers he'll be on the PS. I see some upside in his game.

  14. Wright was a real deep threat during TC and he certainly made a few nice plays during the preseason games. It's nice to see someone w/ the odds stacked against them, make a few plays and be rewarded for it.

I don't understand the love fest for McClover and Dressen. I am a little surprised to see Reggie Newhouse cut tho, I thought he was having a decent preseason.

I am wondering about Dressen myself. But your right, disappointing is too strong a word. At least until we are disappointed in what comes out of Tangini's sleeve here. If in fact that is the case.

I think it's apparent that this team is not going to be traditional as far as the roster is concerned. We might see more cross players than we are used too and/or maybe players will be put on the practice squad just long enough to move baggage on the roster for a big player. All speculation at this point.

teague and katnik both play multiple positions along the o-line(katnik also playing G and teague playing all of them)...so we arent carrying 3 C's who only play C
not to mention mangold can play G also
