Mark Sanchez was a top five pick.

Maybe the running out of bounce for + yards losses?

I think the difference is, with Vick, while you get the turnovers you also get multiple big plays and multiple TDs.

Geno has the tools, the game just hasn't slowed down enough for him.

We aren't the best at drafting offense no doubt...all you can do is hope the next QB we take pans out

Well, eventually, we have to hit it big . . . right? So frustrating.

Provided we MM or acquire an offensive mind comparable or better we should be in better shape to develop a top 5 QB talent.

That is true but in meaningful games between weeks 1-14 last season, and 1-4 this season, Geno has NOT put together consecutive good games.

Find me another QB who hasnt put together consecutive good games in meaningful games, im pretty sure it will be hard to find.

My point about Sanchez is that I have no real confidence in this FO when it comes to recognizing talent on a consistent enough basis to count on such ability. I understand there are no more holdovers in the scouting department, but Terry Bradway is still with the team. As for the new guys, the ones Idzik has brought in, I guess the argument is they have too little of a track record to reach any negative conclusions.

But while the draft last year brought Richardson, the rest of it is from meh to bad, and that's counting on Milliner not being chronically hurt. And this year's draft might yield Amaro playing up to his draft status. But there's already cause for concern about Pryor, imo. And the lower round picks from last year and this, getting a bunch in particular this year, has so far yielded nothing. Ftr I get that Dozier is someone whose name comes up as having potentail, but so was that said about people like Aboushi, who can't even ride the bench behind Brian Winters. Color me skeptical.

So, we watch the Jets play to lose this year? Any ticket holders here okay with that? And then count on the GM and his boys to come up with the next elite Qb in thie coming draft?

If you could ensure me Geno could be as good as Phillip Rivers, even Palmer, I would strongly advocate letting him ride it out; Alex Smith not so much. Note the first 2 were #1 overall picks and the last was the 4th overall pick I believe. Say what you will about how does guys' careers have played out, there was enough talent and potential there to garner such a significant investment. Remember these are all pre-rookie wage scale guys. NO TEAM so that in Geno even with the safety net of rookie wage scale. With that in mind, I have a hard time with agreeing Geno has the same level of talent. I personally don't see Geno as a starter in this league.

With regards to benching Geno, I'm somewhat conflicted. What I felt should have happened was that there was an open competition as Geno has yet to win a QB competition. Since we didn't do that and it seems Geno will be starting for at least 1 more week, I say we ride it out at this point. Winning 6-8 games, and that's generous, with a 34 years old Vick on a 1 year deal really doesn't amount to anything. Maybe Geno proves me wrong completely and lights it up. Maybe after 32 games Idzik will be finally able to determine "what he has" in Geno. Maybe we get a top 5 pick. Maybe Woody blows it all up and brings in a whole new slate of FO personnel and coaches. Geno starting provides endless possibilities.

If you start Vick over Geno for the rest of the season they will be screwing up our draft position.

The INTs would matter as much if he was contributing in scoring plays at an equal or better rate.

Btw, Rivers has taken way too much heat in the past. That dude is playing at an amazing level.

Some idiot said recently that Geno's accuracy is already elite.

Go look at Philip Rivers to see elite accuracy.

It may not matter.. Tennessee, Tampa and St. Louis are teams virtually assured of selecting a QB in the 1st round of the 2015 draft. I don't see Jets being worse than any of these teams even if they shit the bed and wind up 5-11 this year. Add to the mix Miami, Buffalo and Oakland as teams that could possibly take a QB and there is no guarantee the Jets will be able to find their next franchise QB in the 2015 draft.

The CBS sports big board lists 3 QB's as 1st rounders and 2 others are late 1st / early 2nd round picks.

The QB of the future just may be in the 2016 draft (Kenny Hill?) so I don't think it matters at all whether its Geno or Vick that starts, the cards just don't look right for a franchise QB in next years draft.

Could other college players emerge to deepen the 2015 QB draft, sure but right now I'd say the next QB won't be on their roster until after the 2016 draft.

I can't do research against such a relative term as "meaningful". I am pretty sure geno thought they were. I am guessing there were more players playing that felt the same. O.t. vick isn't going to turn this thing around. Too many problems.
