Used Truecar for my last 2 purchases and i just go in pointing to the lowest price paid within 150 miles. They try every which way to get me to pay more but not happening. It also helps that i go in at 4pm the last day of the month with my bank check in hand.

Thanks Dierking, and GQ, and Petro, Red Menace, all you guys trying to give free lessons, I do appreciate it. The problem is I am a country simpleton and not all of this stuff is sinking in :(

In terms of being a country simpleton my whole life the only thing I've done the same thing my father did and the same thing his father did:
That is, buy old slightly junky used cars and slapped em together to keep them running, hopefully long enough so I don't owe on them anymore to enjoy a small period of time with no payment until it no longer runs and then I buy another old slightly junky used car.

    --

But dammit I don't want to do that anymore!!!! I am tired of thinking theres a chance my car will break down at any moment and I want to lease a new truck!! - - Buy or lease doesn't really matter to me to much, however, from reading this thread and talking to others, lease sounds like a good option for me since now I work most days from home, staying under mileage agreements should be pretty easy.

SO I have been trying to follow advice in here and I totally get how you want the high MSRP and high residual value to lower your payments. But like I am with the ladies, actually sealing the deal here gets me a little confused. If you can offer any help I would much appreciate:
-is residual value something I can negotiate??
-how do you get the conversation away from monthly payment to negotiate things like MSRP/RV, when A) That's the first thing they want to talk about... and B) that's the only thing I really care about?

    thanks for any help

Your welcome....first things first, you have to decide what vehicle you need and want to lease, SUV, pickup truck, Sedan...etc.

for the record my household has had the following combination of cars for many years now....a hybrid (currently a honda accord), smaller 4 cylinder car (honda or toyota), and mid size SUV - either ford explorer or honda pilot.

note about the hybrid - i am completely hooked on these. higher up front cost is easily recaptured at the pump after 1-2 years. but u have to get one with decent HP. i was deciding between a lexus 350 hybrid and the accord hybrid. both drove exceptional - smooth, decent acceleration (lexus had a bit more balls). went with the honda due to lower cost and HOV lane use.

Was a Honda man myself for many years, made the jump to Toyota, Highlander for wife and 4Runner for myself.

That being said, I'm liking the new Ridgeline a lot, when it's time to move the 4Runner, might have to go back to Honda.

    Thanks for help guys.

We have 1.5 months left on Honda CRV lease. Over the past almost 3 years:
    Right window doesn't work and
there is permanent "low tire pressure" sign on the dash.

It's probably just a bad car, but honda is not supposed to have this shit.

Wifey and I tested new CRV and Equinox. Loved the Chevy. The fight now is lease vs buy, but there is a load of incentives for YE. They already mentioned $21.8K and I think I can knock off another grand.

So tomorrow... 4-roots root canal then the dealership. I should be in enough pain and pissed to have no mercy :)

    Again, thanks for help.

I know your getting rid of it, but in the future check spare tire for low pressure, computer reads that sensor as well.

The dealership will still be more painful than the root canals.

    Wish you the best!
