Yes, I've been saying that about the Patsies every year now as I cry into my beer (once again) in January... :(

Other than that I agree with you.

Yes actually. Once he shared a picture of a particularly successful bowel movement. It was very impressive until we learned it was meant as embodiment of Jets history after 1969. :)

IMHO there really is no direction in the NFL

It's about QB , coaches , and drafted talent.

Things can swing so wildly in the modern game. There should never been a 10 year doormat ever again.

Sure what would U like to talk about?

    Our clueless owner?
Not in the POs for some years now
Since inception in 1960 we R still a under 500 team
Any subject that U deem important that is NOT speculation like when will sign we Fitz. In other words stick only to facts

You forgot the most important factor: owners. Long-term doormats are always about the ownership.

You can't be good enough to consistently win as an owner, that takes some luck with the talent also. However you can definitely be bad enough to consistently lose, and that's almost independent of talent at times. When Al Davis became senile but nobody could remove him as owner the Raiders were just terrible for most of a decade. The Lions were terrible for nearly two decades including a half decade where they had an incandescent talent in Barry Sanders at RB.

All an owner has to do to get out of the cycle is to find somebody else to entrust their business too who will do better but for many bad owners over the years that has been a tough step to get by.

Right now we have very few truly bad owners in football. The two that have had the most trouble recently are the Jacksonville and Cleveland owners and both of them are very wet behind the ears and still do not understand how the NFL functions in terms of the overall competition. Detroit is still very iffy, with just a few stars lifting them out of the terrible team category and one of those leaving in free agency last year and another retiring this year. They could relapse to terrible team status in a hurry now.

The salary cap mechanics have lifted Arizona out of the bad team category, as well as helping Cincinnati back up onto it's feet. In both cases cheap owners have been forced to spend a representative amount of money on their players and so the teams have managed to accumulate talent over the last decade without having it all leave town when the payday came due. Adding good coaches and GM's has been a big part of the solution in both cases, however it wasn't hard to attract talent once it became clear that the owners were going to spend money as part of the process.

You forgot Woody who is clueless IMHO. Presently his record is 0-16 IMHO that makes him a terrible owner no matter what he spent it all does that matter if U do not win the big dance

I never really cared for Matty Ice. I always thought his arm was a little short. And I never thought he was tough. I don't know what Stafford's problem is. Bad support I guess. He has a cannon. Rivers almost an anachronism with that delivery, but smart. Surprised he has been as successful as he has been. Without winning anything, of course.

The idea that Brady will play for another ten years is hilarious. He is right in the age range all the greats started breaking down. Soon the inevitable will happen and he will be bood out of Boston as the spoiled bandwagon fans heads collectively explode. Watching this ship sink will be gratifying. I just hope the infighting leads to the dirty laundry being made public.

I agree with the idea that ownership is the biggest problem with long term doormat teams. I don't think the Jets are true doormats though. Consistently second in the division and just missing the playoffs (at least since Woody has been here) puts us firmly in the area of mediocre. I think (hope) Woody finally as the Coach/GM combo that can turn this around, and hopefully keep him to the outskirts of things. The Bills will be a mess shortly with the Ryans in town, the Fins have a ton to figure out and father time is creeping in on BB and T*m. The impression was given last year that Mac knows what he is doing, Bowles has some to figure out but this year "should" eliminate those "rookie mistakes" and Woody stepped aside and let them do what they do. the time to build is now and that is what they are doing.

Rivers is a bit overrated imo. He is king of the dump off and short passes. He racks up nice numbers cuz teams give him the completions underneath. Remember the GB game last year; what good is 500 yards if you only put 20 points on the board and lose?

I see us taking a nice step back this season realistically. However, Bowles is still growing as a coach, if we stay disciplined and keep playing top 5 defense.. so who knows. I trust Chan to keep us far away from the bottom ranked offense.. those days are over.

a way too early prediction.. Jets floor at 6-10, ceiling 10-6

sounds like a Br*dy description as well..

but to the credit of both of them, teams only give you the underneath if they at least respect your deep field.
