They have a good relationship I'm sure, however Elway's like a son to Bowlen.

So whose idea is getting rid of Fox and the entire coaching staff. Because they lost in the playoffs against a good team with an injured Qb. We'll take it!

...meh...John Fox is the Marty Schottenheimer of the modern NFL. Great in the regular season, not so much in the playoffs.

7 trips the divisional round, 3 trips to the championship game, 2 trips to the SB,

A whole lot better than Marty. JF has a winning record in the playoffs.

I would take Fox. And I would take Marty, too. Give me stability. Vs bragadocio and bullshit. Buffalo sucks.

I'd rather go with an unproven guy with upside, than with a guy who has only proven that he can't win the big one. Fox has never won the super bowl despite being a head coach for 12 years, and the last 4 with an elite team headed by Peyton Manning. I'd rather go with a young, energetic, driven coordinator looking to make his mark than with an old guy who's had numerous chances and never won the big one. If that young guy fails as a HC, we just try again in 2-3 years, rather than being stuck in mediocrity for 10 years like Marty's Chiefs were and more recently the "forever 8-8" Cowboys.

He only had Peyton 3 years. The first year he won a playoff game with Tim Tebow.

And - are you going to blame yesterday on Fox, anyone who doesn't watch that game and see Peyton is done and not the same player they are kidding themselves. (sad but the truth)

So in reality, he had an aging but good Peyton for 2 years and one of them went to the SB.

Give me the list of all the coaches who won the Superbowl with Peyton that Fox should be knocked for not winning it with him.

Wonder where he is headed. If Gase gets the Denver job and Atlanta gets Fox then that helps us with Quinn I guess.

That was fast. Turned down by Fox an hour after he's fired! Talk about no respect.

He's a perfect fit for the 49ers IMO - but that owner is bat-shit crazy

I'm just saying, I'd rather have a young guy with upside, who could win multiple super bowls potentially, rather than an older guy who lost 2 super bowls in a 12 year career. Plus HC is a taxing job, how much energy does Fox have anymore? Give me the young, hungry, energetic coordinator trying to make a name for himself as a HC, that's all I'm saying.

Wouldn't even come in for an interview? That sucks.

He must have his eyes on one particular place.

I feel like we are going to miss out on Quinn and Bowles at this point. I guess that is the Jet fan in me, assuming the worst, simply because we are so accustomed to the worst.

I want this shit to happen already. Fuck the Panthers man.

    I agree with you.

I just don't like to knock on Fox (because some on this site seem to knock on everybody, they would find something wrong with Lombardi) -- I think he walks into a team like the Niners, puts together the right coaching staff and gets them back in the mix.
Thing is Fox really isn't that old. At 59 he still has a few good years of coaching in him.

He really would not be a fit for us, which doesn't matter as he already turned us down.

I don't think so, he lost some big cash in mutually agreeing to leave the Broncos.
If he didn't want to coach, he could have let them fire him and sit back and collect.

I know a lot of Jets fans are not fans of Cimini, but this article is chock full of interesting scenarios for all the teams looking for coaches, and posted about 20 min. ago....
