Sox fans are devoted, I'll give 'em that. Knowledgeable? Um... some are, I guess. But they are by far the most biased fanbase I've ever experienced. Umm no. Most are bandwagon fans who know nothing. The actual die-hard fans are knowlegable though, but every team has those fans.
I hate the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Sixers, Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, Devils, Dolphins, Bills, did I mention any team from Philly?, Angels, and the Marlins. I really could care less about the Mets and Giants.
Not these "born again" Sox fans that mysteriously appeared after 2004 or the ones that only like them because it's cool to hate the Yankees. But if you ask me, just about all teams from the northeast and midwest have very knowledgable and dedicated fanbases.

I don't hate the mets, but I have never liked them since I heard about them not letting the jets use their facilities during the season. I wasn't born at the time and don't know all the details, but that's pretty much why I'm a Yankees fan. I hear ya.

The 26 titles is tough to argue with, but he was clearly speaking about all of sports (minus hockey). So I submit the Celtics and Lakers, Packers and Niners, all of which have the same aura and history that the Yankees do. Edit: I don't know how I didn't put the Cowboys in there.
While their legacys are great,they still don't match up to what the yankees have acomplished. A team winning 10 superbowls out of 40 would be closer as far as championships. Basketball and Hockey i don't follow,but they are still not the same.
