Nah, they would have sucked. And its not just Richie. All the time I would hear about what could have been, if the Falcons hadn't traded up one spot ahead of us and taken Favre, and we had to settle for Nagle. You know what I think would have happened? Brett Favre would be celebrating his 15th year as the #2 used car salesman at Cletus T Jones Pontiac in North Shithole, Mississippi, and telling everybody about how he used to play in the NFL while everybody just laughs behind their back at his fat drunk ass. 'Cause we would have f*cked that up too.
Kotite had more postseason success with that team than did Ryan. Okay, so Kotite won one playoff game and Ryan won zero playoff games, but still. He was not a bad coach from 1991 to mid-1994. Then stuff happened- first contract issues with the Eagles and a few months later the Jets called.
How about this guy used to call practices short so he could go golfing. This guy was a fucking joke, are you actually trying to make kotite look like a decent coach here? Yea sure, 4-28 in two seasons is completely respectable, is that what you want me to say? I dont get what your argument is here buddy.
ok i just read this post now as well, i shouldve just made it all one reply, but let me ask you this now, have you ever been to a new york sporting event? Saying fuck you to inadequate and halfassed coach is nasty? Have you been to a jets game? Have you ever heard anybody yell "Aw shucks, it looks like were gonna go 1-15 this year! Goshdarnit Richie!" No. They will say, "fuck you kotite" and deservedly so. Change your tampon. I sat through every miserable game that year and witnessed one of the lowest points of a franchise. Ill say "fuck you kotite" anyday of the week.
then let's go talk to eagles fans. i bet they'd agree with me. i lived in eagles country for a year - and that's what they told me. It was similar to what herm did with Parcells' talent with the Jets before going to KC and going 6-26... although he got one playoff appearance out of Dick Vermeil's roster before they all left.
The irony of his nickname is that he literally bled out all hope and faith over 2 seasons. 2 seasons! It took Joe Walton 3 times that long.
Kyle Brady may hav ebeen a reach but he was still a solid starter for us for a few years and as bad a coach as Kottie was he did bring us: Hugh Douglas Matt O'Dwyer Keyshawn Mickens Coleman Chris Hayes(though we let him go and BP brought him back) Chrebet That's a pretty good haul in 2 years, better than waht BP did here as a GM.
Parcells was still with the team through the draft of '00, at which point, he cut ties. So when you add Ellis, Penny, Abraham, Becht and Coles to the mix...its really lopsided the other way. Not that I'm looking to debate this. Just pointing it out.
